Limbo Review

Indie games, like everything else in gaming, is hit or miss. Some indie games attempt to bring something new to the table while others take a familiar formula and mix it up a bit. Limbo is the latter taking elements from games that veteran gamers...

Limbo is a game for a certain type of gamer. A gamer that enjoys a good challenge in a game rather than having it be overtly difficult, someone that appreciates a game that feels familiar to other games of the past, while not being a complete...

Deadlight Review

Does Deadlight deliver an outstanding side-scrolling platform adventure, or does it get eaten by zombies?

Deadlight lacks neither style nor substance, and it lasts just about the perfect amount of time. The story is minimal but engaging, and the ending is unexpected -- in a good way. A couple of sections stumble a bit, but not enough to detract from what...

Though it can be said that the sound and score don't match the game's visual appeal, there's something great about the minimalist approach that makes Limbo the complete package and a game you won't soon forget.

Then again, you could just keep trying and use the "no fall" damage cheat - that works too.

Normally I'm not a fan of platform games, but Limbo came along and showed that it's not the genre that is boring, just that most implementations of it are done poorly.

Great art direction ; Interesting puzzles

Price is a bit steep ; A bit too much trial and error can get frustrating

Very much worth playing, but not quite at the price point.

Limbo is the first of five games under Microsoft's third annual "Summer of Arcade" Xbox Live Arcade releases, and it's definitely the one that stands out from the rest. All of the other games seem to be based on an established franchise or gameplay...

Excellent style and atmosphere; very well-designed puzzles with plenty of variety

Game may be too short for some players

There are a lot of ways you could describe Limbo, but the one that sticks with me the most is that it's the anti-Mario. Both are puzzle solving platforming games but Limbo eschews Miyamoto's vibrant, rainbow colored world for one that's dark, dreary,...

The lack of plot may turn some people off but the excellent puzzles and mood make this a must have for hard core gamers.

Limbo Review - Frictionless Insight

is a horrifying place where life is separated from a gruesome death by a mere shuffling step, and even death isn't enough to escape from horrifying machines, weapons of war, giant arachnids and lucifugous brain parasites

"Uncertain of his sister's fate, a boy enters Limbo." That's all the plot synopsis there is for Limbo, and even that seems strange and irrelevant after playing Limbo. In truth, Limbo is a horrifying place where life is separated from a gruesome death...

Figure it out

You won't be able to put down your controller until you\'re finished

Some may find it a bit short

While some of the puzzles can be challenging, the game is pretty straightforward. The real challenge here is fully completing it. There are eggs hidden throughout the world, some of which can be very difficult to find or figure out how to get. Oddly...

After a quick look at Limbo you would be forgiven for thinking that it is simply an old-school 2D Platformer with a very pretty style. It is a 2D platformer in the truest sense; you move your character to the right jumping over traps and pulling levers...

I'm a bit critical of Limbo's trial-and-error process. The lack of real and lasting consequences removes incentive to keenly observe in what is essentially a game of attention. Post a Comment

LIMBO keeps you sucked into its bleak, grim universe with unique puzzles, simple controls, and an approach to game design Playdead calls "trial and death" gaming for long enough to be effective, but certainly leaves some length to be desired.
