Madden NFL 11

It's August, and for sports fans that means two things: the National Football League pre-season has begun and there's a new Madden game on the market. Both, however, are pretty anti-climatic.

As long time Madden fans will know, improvements from year to year come in small doses. This year is no different, with but one new main feature, some minor tweaks to artificial intelligence and a whole lot of deja-vu in Maddel NFL 11's...

Finally, a Madden that feels different.

Cuts the between-play fat while keeping football authenticity; improves the passion and excitement of the atmosphere

Still full of those frustrating "Madden moments" of inexplicable fumbles, BS holding calls, and miracle computer-controlled comebacks

But, yeah, I'll go ahead and admit it: I don't know exactly how Madden 11 will hold up for me over the next year. But I do know that, unlike most years, I really feel the improvements instead of just reading about them in a press release or seeing them...

Baseball may be America's past time, but there is no denying the NFL now rules the majority of America's sporting hearts. With this all-football

I would imagine the pressure to deliver year in and year out on the developers of the Madden series has to be tremendous. This year I think the storyboard ideas for this year’s game sounded great and some of them turned out to be quite solid additions....

This review contains no sports euphemisms. Just know this -- Madden 11 makes Madden 10 obsolete.

Many gameplay issues from Madden 10 are fixed; online team play a great diversion

Default settings are too gamey; franchise modes received little attention; some new features are hard to get excited about
