MLB 2K10 (Xbox 360) Review

With a year of in-house development behind them, the Visual Concepts team sets out on a mission to create a new legacy, burying the mistakes of the past and creating a new baseball experience that fans can appreciate.

Graphically we see MLB 2K10 blow all the prior installments out of the water; the detail in the stadiums and players takes the game to new heights. With Dynamic light and intense contrast, the game comes to life as daytime matches drag on into the...

Major League Baseball 2K10 Review

2K Sports finally gets its baseball franchise back on track.

Pitcher batter interface; stadium graphics; solid new game modes

Lack of errors; franchise mode is weak; base running/stealing is needlessly frustrating; animation issues

I look at Major League Baseball 2K10 as a foundational game. This is the first time in a long time that 2K has a viable baseball game in its stable, and while there remain many issues that need to be addressed either via a patch or for 2K11, at least...

Major League Baseball 2K10 Review (Xbox 360)

for Mattel's memorable old-school gaming system. We could prattle on if we weren't under certain word-count restrictions, but the point is that most every console of note has had a really great baseball game to accompany it

Speaking of steroids, the design team must have decided they’re no longer an issue in virtual baseball, as none of the players on display were nearly as massive as some of the incredible bulks we see strolling the diamonds in real life. Otherwise,...

Developing a great videogame simulation of one of the world's most complex professional sports is not as easy as one might think, as evidenced by the numerous baseball titles that have seen ho-hum critical reception throughout the years. For the...

Makes players feel like they're playing baseball, rather than watching a telecast or playing a videogame. Falls short of competitor in visuals and overall depth, but gets the most important aspects of core gameplay and immersion just right.

Welcome back to the big leagues, 2K Sports.

Play ball! While there are still some aspects that need attention, Major League Baseball 2K10 is a treat for sports fans. The MyPlayer mode is easily accessible, even to those that don't care for Franchise modes, and the improved gameplay (for the...

Major League Baseball 2K10

MLB 2K10 marks the 10th anniversary of the baseball franchise with a greatly improved game that's the best in the history of the series.

Vastly improved in almost every possible way from MLB 2K9 ; Much more realistic diamond action, especially in the pitcher-batter duel ; Superb and challenging pitching interface ; My Player adds an RPG flavor to the standard modes of play ; Sharp visuals

Fielding is a little too quick and twitchy on default slider settings ; Baserunning is off on the default slider settings ; Playing as anything other than a pitcher makes My Player mode less fun ; Problematic online play

Major League Baseball 2K10 Review (Xbox 360)

It's hard to believe that it has been 10 years since I bought World Series Baseball, the game that practically sold me on the Xbox. Features like controlling the managerial staff and a truncated minor-league system made Sega's early effort a standout...

Fun pitching/batting showdowns. Presentation and commentary. Modes and features

Graphical/animation problems. Fielding issues. AI and franchise glitches

Major League Baseball 2K10

2K's MLB series has always been a step or two away from being a contender for the MLB crown. Technical issues coupled with poor AI have kept 2K and Visual Concepts from catching up to Sony's powerhouse series, The Show. MLB 2K10, the tenth anniversary...

Pitching/batting controls are amazing ; My Player is accessible, fun ; Commentary team is always informative thanks to John Kruk ; MLB Today is nice addition

Soundtrack is all over the place ; Graphical hitches are also all over the place ; Online is lag-tastic ; Fielding AI isn't really all that I

The main thing you need to know about My Player is that its instantly accessible, even to those who aren’t hardcore baseball fanatics. While it tries to offer up the same sim-tastic action as The Show, 2K10’s My Player is a far more laid back mode....
