NBA 2K9 is ridiculously immersive. The crowd shots, the announcers, the player likenesses, the real-time player updates, the coaching controlthe only thing you're missing is a shoe deal. The game offers moves aplenty for players who are patient enough...

Incredible attention to detail. Great control flexibility and coaching options. Excellent online experience

You have so much player control that it's easy to become overwhelmed by the button combos

NBA 2K9 is one of the most realistic, detailed, and fun sports titles we've played.

2K Sports have long since dominated the field when it comes to basketball simulations. Compared to the 2K series, NBA Live is stuck in the developmental league. Being the fourth installment on the 360, could we expect nothing less than dominance this...

Playing this game is fun and will keep you busy throughout the NBA season and beyond. Lack of player emotion is puzzling like the gameplay sometimes. It seems as though 2K is losing its lead over NBA Live and needs to come up with fixed online servers...

While NBA Live 09 struggles to find an identity for itself as the series continues to rebound from the 07 debacle, NBA 2K9 shows yet again why the 2K series has usurped Live as the King of the Hardwood.

Everything about NBA 2K9 blows NBA Live 09 out of the water. If you're a basketball fan, NBA 2K9 is the game to get this season.

NBA 2K9 (Xbox 360)

NBA 2K9 suffers from an identity crisis. While 2K Sports continues to claim to strive for authenticity with its flagship basketball title, the game itself doesn't necessarily reflect that. It's massively geared towards the offense, yet has a control...

Dazzling visuals, smooth gameplay, and a high basketball IQ add up to a seriously fun experience

Tremendous atmosphere ; Signature shot styles ; Silky-smooth action

Cumbersome play-calling ; Shot Stick can be tough ; Mediocre in-game commentary

NBA 2K9 is the closest thing yet we’ve seen to a total hoops package. Other than a few minor quibbles – the visuals get choppy during the cutscenes between play and the Blacktop mode is a throwaway collection of uninteresting minigames – we’re utterly...

REVIEW: Substance over style

Stable, simple, but technically deep gameplay.; 5-on-5 online play rocks

Middle-of-the-road presentation; no major new features

We miss the sideline reporting of the colorful Craig Sager.

NBA 2K9 stumbles and bumbles, but still dishes and swishes.

NBA 2K9 Review (Xbox 360)

With the NBA's first game less than a month away, both video-game B-ball developers scrambled to beat this season's rush. And, just like last year, the dev teams stepped it up and presented gamers with two feature-packed titles before the big opener in...

since it allows the game to play much more realistically away from the ball and/or out of the user’s control. Not only are the basketball fundamentals defined more clearly in each frame this time around, but the Adaptive system will actually bend...

NBA 2K9 Review | Xbox 360

What do we know as fact every year in the gaming world? We know that hype doesn't always indicate quality. We know that the next big title is always around the corner, just as it seems you're getting to grips with the last one. We know that by...

NBA 2K9 is the latest in the long running 2K NBA series, and this year's version promises all the flashy touches and subtle updates we're all accustomed to. Being a 2K sports title, we know it will be a solid game, we know the visuals will be glossy...

NBA 2K9 Review (Xbox 360)

The NBA 2K series has a lot in common with the San Antonio Spurs. They're both consistently competitive no matter who pops up to challenge them. They're also proven winners. The 2K series has been the undisputed basketball champion since at least 2005,...

Layups go in this year and gameplay is tight. Team Up mode is tons of fun. Association mode is deeper than ever

Online servers need to be fixed right away. No groundbreaking gameplay modes. Commentary needs an overhaul
