Need for Speed: Rivals Review

If Wikipedia is to be believed, we're currently on the fourth generation of Need for Speed games with the release of Need for Speed: Rivals. With (relatively) new studio Ghost Games at the helm, we expected some radical departure from the work of...

Sound design has never been EA’s weakness, and it shows in Rivals. The cars sound as awesome as they should, especially when you start upgrading it. Crashing produces great cringe-inducing effects of metal bending and glass shattering. The music is...

Need for Speed: Rivals

Drifting around a long, sweeping coastal road in Need for Speed: Rivals, behind the wheel of a roaring, tyre-screeching Ferrari 458 Spider, with cop car sirens blaring in your ears, supercars breathing down your neck and waves crashing in the distance,...

A fun, engaging arcade racer with thrills, spills, explosions and crashes aplenty, Need for Speed: Rivals is let down by the largely pointless AllDrive and a lack of race types. A mixed bag.

Need for Speed Rivals PC Review

As arcade racers go, there aren't many developers left making them. Sadly, big publishers have squeezed out many of the good developers from doing what they want or just closed their doors altogether, and what we're left with is games like Need for...

What I was surprised to learn is that Ghost Games, the developer behind Rivals, is made up of about four-fifths of the Criterion Games staff. I assumed that it was some third-party studio cobbled together from the ashes of other UK-based racing studios...

Tearing up the streets of Redview County.

As with many games of this type, EA delivers a solid soundtrack for you to tear up the streets of Redview County to. A hip-hop/pop mix littered with other genres to fill it out, the soundtrack is diverse enough to have a little something for everyone,...

Need For Speed Rivals Review (PS4)

The Need For Speed series has been a constant on consoles for almost 20 years, and while there have been many ups and downs for the series, it has always drawn interest from racing fans. The series has also seen its fair share of developers, from EA...

Need for Speed Rivals review

An all-star team at Ghost Games is hard at work on the latest Need for Speed. T3 swung by their Gothenberg HQ for a preview...

Looks absolutely stunning ; Stonking soundtrack ; Alldrive is clever

Gameplay lacks depth ; Annoying camera ; Unresponsive controls

There's plenty to be excited about here. Rivals already plays really nicely indeed, taking all the best bits of Hot Pursuit, Most Wanted and predecessors like Burnout Paradise, and pulling them together into a single package. Mix that with an...

Need For Speed: Rivals review

There are two types of racing games in this world: the ones that have painstakingly captured every minuscule piece of information surrounding the cars, the tracks, and the world we live in; and those that are there just to have a bit of fun.

Fun, fast and furious, great graphics, plenty to keep you entertained

Focus can feel off, vastness can feel empty, not for accurate racing simulator fans

What Rivals delivers is a fun ride with the added bonus of taking down bad guys or evading the cops depending on what your slant is. Get bored with one and you can easily switch between cop and racer, so there's added variety.
