Quake 4

Eight years after Quake II, Quake 4 picks up the plot but drops the ball

Multiplayer still kicks ass ; Spiffy graphics ; Vehicles offer variety

Single-player story goes nowhere ; Creepy facial animations ; Uninteresting weapons

It's really a shame that a game like this suffers from the old bad port syndrome of stuttering graphics. The single player experience isn't too bad though but there's nothing here over the PC version that would make it a must buy for the 360.

I reviewed the PC version of Quake 4 a while back and really enjoyed the game. While it was a lot more of the same fast-paced Quake action we have seen before, it was done on top of the DOOM 3 Engine and really made DOOM 3 look like a bad game. With...

If you can go into Quake 4 and overlook these serious flaws, you will find a fun game. However, if you want to play the multiplayer modes and don't want to have your gaming experience be slowed down by freezes, stick to the PC version. As for me, I...

If you're into PC gaming and you love first person shooters, then there is no doubt in my mind at some point in your life you have played Quake. Way back in 1996 id Software put together the first game in the franchise at the dawn of online gaming....

Technically it's the first "new" showing of the Quake series since 1999, so how does it stack up? The story may be better than the rest of the games in the franchise and the multiplayer is on par with the series, but not entirely robust. Unfortunately...

Quake 4

With the launch of a new system, there are usually just a couple of decent games to buy. However, the Xbox 360 has been out for a little under a month, and there are really some quality titles out right now. Quake 4 is definitely one of these.

Quake 4 review for the XBOX360

Not the sharpest shooter.

Good, violent fun; Evolving weaponry; Full version of Quake II

Both games are linear; Both feel old; Quake II runs better

Quake 4 wasn't a very impressive game on the PC, but there it had hundreds if not thousands of rivals to compete against. On the Xbox 360 it only has three, yet is even less compelling because it feels so old. Assuming you just spent a mountain of...

Quake 4

Although the single-player experience is a major disappointment, there's no denying that this is one of the Xbox 360's best multiplayer titles.

Multiplayer action is as good as it gets; excellent graphics and lighting; lots of cool weapons

Painfully inconsistent framerate hampers the single-player game; the story isn't at all compelling; a few audio glitches; we got dropped from several online matches

to piss you off. Quake 4 epitomizes the phrase 'resting your laurels'. In fact, Quake 4 is probably sound asleep on its laurels. Is there any redeeming quality in this title? Well, it depends on if you like your graphics washed out and your gameplay...

It's not that Quake 4 is necessarily bad. It isn't. It's just so unoriginal, cliché, and average that it almost hurts. You'll probably have some fun with this title if you play it. The squad sections really are quite good. It's just that monotonous...

Quake 4 Game Review - Xbox 360

Continuing the story of Quake 2 (Quake 3 took the story in a different direction, Quake 4 is the true successor to Quake 2), Quake 4 begins with the main character and his squad of fellow Marines assaulting a Strogg installation. The Strogg being a...

As always, Quake 4 continues the fast paced run-and-gun shooting tradition of its predecessors. There’s usually little in the way of thought provoking gameplay, but any Quake fan would know that going into the game. Clearing out a room single handedly...

QUAKE 4 Review (Xbox 360)

and there are pretty extensive stats online, but you won't find any type of split screen or co-op support

You’ll have your fair share of FPS choices for the Xbox launch, so it really depends on your taste when it comes to purchasing QUAKE 4 from the get-go. In terms of a faster-paced, cinematic campaign and action-oriented multiplayer section, QUAKE 4 has...
