Radiant Silvergun Review

13 years and still showing everyone how it's done.

Highly technical weapon and scoring systems tied together by risk vs. reward, multifaceted bosses offer you the choice of quick action or massive points, extremely helpful Training mode, remastered graphics

Bland character designs

Online play ; Visual update is nice ; Lots of cool weapons

Reminds me how rusty I am ; Story is still ridiculous and useless

Radiant Silvergun Review

Radiant Silvergun proves that great core mechanics stand the test of time, though its severe difficulty could derail the unprepared.

Interesting weapon upgrade system ; Persistent stats offer rewarding growth ; Solid controls give you complete command of your ship ; Seven weapons offer lots of strategic diversity

Incredibly difficult for newcomers ; Grinding to become more powerful is tedious

Radiant Silvergun has stood the test of time. The core mechanics are so well implemented that you can never blame the game for your mistakes, which goes a long way toward lessening the frustration. But it's impossible to completely eliminate the...

Radiant Silvergun Review

Treasure's trove of awesome hardcore titles continues to build this week with the release of Radiant Silvergun, a game that's never been released on U.S. shores until now. Up until that point, the only way you could play it was if you owned an import...

The fun changes not a bit even when you’re playing alongside a friend in two-player co-op, online through Xbox Live or via local gameplay. It’s definitely right up there with Treasure’s previous shooter release, Ikaruga. The soundtrack is awesome, too....

Developed by Treasure, the same guys we have to thank for the amazing Ikaruga, Radiant Silvergun still impresses with its clever gunplay.

Radiant Silvergun has a lot to offer: you can play it like a manic shooter and enjoy the weapons and skillful dodging, or you can make it more cerebral and go for the ridiculous color combos. Either way, you're getting one of the very best 2D shooters...

Radiant Silvergun is a triumph and arguably one of the best (if not the best) game of its type available - on any platform.

Radiant Silvergun- Xbox 360

If this were Radiant Silvergun's first appearance, it would undoubtedly be hailed as a brilliant shooter with excellent pacing and deep elements of strategy, marred only by bland and outdated visuals. That we are talking about a 13-year old game makes...

Radiant Silvergun- Xbox 360

As with any vertical shooter, there's no escape from the laborious memorization of unforgiving patterns. [...] But if you don't mind working for every inch of progress and using your noodle more than usual, you'll happily spent innumerable hours...

Radiant Silvergun- Xbox 360

Even after all this time, Radiant Silvergun is just as challenging, infuriating and iconic as it ever was. Its color-coded point multiplier and weapon upgrade systems keep the learning curve nice and high, and the unforgiving continue mechanic is so...
