Soldier of Fortune: Payback

This insipid military shooter offers a bag of entrails and not much else.

Not the worst-looking game ever seen

Some of the worst everything else ever seen

Soldier of Fortune: Payback

Painting the town red with arterial spray

Inadvertant humor from kills

1994-era gameplay, story, and AI. Whee!; Lousy controls, framerate problems, physics bugs

How did what should’ve been a budget title end up costing more than $40?

Soldier of Fortune Payback Review

Discarded limbs mean only one thing: terrorist salad.

That's really what it comes down to. Soldier of Fortune: Payback is a weak man's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Amusing, since Activision publishes both games, and chose to release SOF two weeks after Infinity Ward's opus. That alone makes this game...

Soldier of Fortune: Payback

S combat system, at least, is solid-the aim is fine, the recoil is fine, the guns are fine, the dash is fine, the melee is fine. They are, in a word, average-nothing to complain or rejoice about. This makes multiplayer better than the short single...

It looks quite pretty

It's Cheap

Beat the game in one evening (so short I took an egg), but I would have easily blown through 11 bucks on two beers at the local pub in under 20 mins.

Cheap... Cheap... Cheap... $9.99 w/ free shipping

Way to short, but who cares it was only 11 bucks delivered (California collects taxes)

That's it?

AI's were decent, slightly better than average in competency. Though 2 boss scenes were 'damage' stupid. Graphics were OK, but grenade explosions looked pathetic. Just fyi, I loved the orig Xbox version years ago. Even this game can be fun, but for...

There was a part where you HAD to rush through, not just hide and pick off like I normally do in shooters. This was actually kind of nice. This separated the game from the 'sneak n hide' games. My normal 'lazy, pick 'em all off' type strategy just...

Way to short! 4 maps, not even maps, just trails. Sound was just average. Don't even let the music play! They bought the Halo ST and meshed it with another ST I can't remember the name of at this moment. Totally derivative

Ninja Gaiden 2 - With More Blood than Devil May Cry

Devil May Cry may have enjoyed its time as the granddaddy of 3d platform action but with the advent of Ninja Gaiden 2, it is finally time to pass the torch. Ninja Gaiden 2 expands on the first game, with more weapons, tons of gory moves, and updated ...

great environment, top-notch fighting system, sticks to tried and true

enemies get repetitive, occasional annoying camera angle
