Spec Ops: The Line

I have to admit, I may have rolled my eyes when I was going to start playing Spec Ops: The Line, thinking it would be yet another cover based militaristic shooter where you’ll hide behind cover, shoot enemies, and repeat for six-plus hours. While I did...

Spec Ops: The Line Review

2K Games and Yager promised a disturbing and emotional story wrapped in a great action game. How does Spec Ops: The Line stack up?

Spec Ops isn’t about a war, protecting the world, or defeating some evil threat -- it’s about you, the effects of your actions, and events that are out of your control. The sum of Spec Ops’ unexpected story is an army shooter that makes killing people...

Using Joseph Conrad's classic, and bane of college students everywhere, Heart of Darkness, as a jumping-off point, Yager's Spec Ops: The Line seeks to deliver a dark tale of death, madness, and desperation by mixing elements of disaster fiction and...

They say war is hell; Spec Ops: The Line, however, is not. Oh, it is no doubt for Martin Walker, John Konrad, and the poor people of Dubai, but for the player, Spec Ops: The Line just puts the fun back into the word fundamental with a solidly written...

Usually when you describe something as 'multi-faceted' it's a compliment, indicating a depth of personality and intellect in a person or great artistic worth in an object. When we describe Spec Ops: The Line as 'multi-faceted' it's not a compliment....

A striking vision of a devastated Dubai plays host to murky morality and banal gunplay in Spec Ops: The Line.

Engrossing amalgam of art and architecture ; Memorable moments, both humorous and shocking

Stiff movement mechanics ; Relentless killing overrides moral dilemmas

The disconnect between the gameplay and the narrative elements of Spec Ops: The Line is numbing, which makes it more difficult to contemplate the murky morality of war in the way the game wants you to. There are some intriguing things to be teased out...

There are a lot of shooters out there. Some just give you a gun and tell you to shoot. Others put you in a position you never want to be in and make you live it.

As the bodies of American Servicemen and innocent civilians begin to mount up, that distrust soon turns to anger; and in time, outright insubordination.

Spec Ops : The Line review, xbox360

I love it when a game blindsides me. I knew of Spec Ops although I had not paid much attention to it, I didn't even know it was a third person shooter until I fired it up. That was when I got very pleasantly surprised, for once we are looking at a war...

Spec Ops: The Line Xbox 360 Review

Things are no longer perfect in Dubai: thousands of innocent civilians lie dead, sandstorms have wrecked the once beautiful city and Captain Martin Walker is stuck in the middle of it all whilst trying to unravel the truth behind the events that...

Great Story ; Disturbing and haunting scenes ; No clear sense of morality ; Incredible graphics

Gameplay suffers ; Sticky cover mechanics ; Multiplayer is good, but not great ; Lacking in "something
