Super Meat Boy Review

Following in the footsteps of other Newgrounds games, Super Meat Boy goes from free flash game to a fully fledged release. Is there enough meat on the bones to warrant a purchase?

I must admit I was surprised at how much better this edition was over the Newgrounds release. If you played that and wasn’t impressed, you should still give this game a change. At ten dollars, you can't go wrong with this much hardcore platforming...

Super Meat Boy

Platform games are classically associated with console gaming and are sadly becoming a dying breed so who would of thought a game originally released for the PC would become one of the best of the bunch.

Super Meat Boy

Easily one of the best games to be released on XBL and PSN ever, Super Meat Boy grabs hold and doesn't let go. Team Meat has stuck gold with this charming little platformer that promises punishment for players, but also promises to keep them coming...

Super Meat Boy

Super Meat Boy's difficulty will likely turn off some gamers. But if you like your 2D platformers challenging and rewarding then you'll be hard pressed to find a better game out there.

No way to view leaderboard replays

Death is commonplace in Super Meat Boy. When you reach the harder levels, you may end up dying a dozen times before you pass the first pit, and more than a hundred before you reach the end. With failure such an expected occurrence, you might think this...

Smells Like Bacon

Outstanding simplicity and sharpness combined with brilliant level design. Huge amount of content

Some may find it too challenging at times

As Meat Boy is essentially a cube of raw meat, his squishy exterior is very vulnerable to the external world. The main story of the game is spaced across 5 different locations, each of which corresponds to a chapter in the game. Each location contains...

Super Meat Boy

Super Meat Boy is a tough-as-nails platformer where you play as an animated cube of meat who's trying to save his girlfriend (who happens to be made of bandages) from an evil fetus wearing a tux who lives in a jar. Leap from walls, jump over seas of...

Super Meat Boy Xbox 360 Review

It's hard to put into text the sheer primal grunts and groans that emanated from my vocal cords as I played this game of sheer frustration and annoyance. Never have I encountered such b*****disation since the days of I Wanna Be The Guy. Super Meat Boy...

Fantastic gameplay ; That addicting “Just one more level” draw ; Humorous pop culture references

Effing vertical difficulty curve may deter casual gamers ; May cause a rise in blood pressure and stress

It seems like the internet is becoming the new breakout ground for games and concepts looking to get themselves onto consoles. Games such as Alien Hominid, Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People and N+ can trace their roots to an Adobe Flash...

Super Meat Boy is a crazy platforming adventure and is definitely worth playing. It has plenty of unlockables and at its current sale price of 800 Microsoft Points it is a must buy for platforming enthusiasts, particularly if you are a fan of the very...

Super Meat Boy

Super Meat Boy is bright, huge, colourful, funny and painfully annoying.

Perfect platforming ; Very rewarding ; Huge amount of content

Difficulty might not be to everyone's taste

Of course, Super Meat Boy might not be for you: it's highly likely you switched off when I wrote 'buggeringly hard' a few paragraphs ago. Super Meat Boy taps into the exact kind of things I want from a video game - it's bold, challenging and, above...
