This review is effectively superfluous. Everything I feel I really need to say is in this article. However, for the sake of comprehensiveness, here's a more traditional review as well.

Time-manipulation can be fun

Outdated graphics ; Floaty, imprecise controls ; Forgettable plot ; Generic setting ; Released amidst a massive flood of games that are much, much better

Even if Timeshift were released a few years ago, it wouldn’t have been considered an exceptional game. But being released now, amidst so many incredible, monumental FPS games, it just seems kinda’ pathetic.

Time travel is cool, you know it, I know it, Doc Brown knew it and apparently so does Saber Interactive who have decided that their take on the stale old FPS genre will be to allow you to control time in order to aid your cause. Can a cross between...

This is ideal rental fodder, with a fun single player experience that is too short and familiar to justify a full purchase but still a lot better than you may be expecting. There is plenty of fun to be had with the time powers however and hopefully the...

On paper TimeShift sounds like it has what it takes to compete with the big first-person shooters of the season (such as Halo 3, BioShock and Call of Duty 4). After all, who doesn't like the idea of running around killing people with the power to stop,...

TimeShift has a great concept that should have added something new and original to the crowded first-person shooter genre. Unfortunately Sierra's newest action game is marred by a boring story, an easy difficulty and time shifting abilities that aren't...

Can time shifting save a game that seemed doomed from the start?

Impressive in-your-face graphics; ultra-gritty environments; time-altering element is cool

AI quibbles; stiff targeting mechanics; would be quite ordinary without time ability

TimeShift puts you in the role of a scientist with a special suit, although the name or further identity of whom is never revealed. Dr. Krone, the director of a research lab that has been researching a suit for the military that can control time, has...

While much of TimeShift's campaign is fairly trite, it tries to place itself a cut above the rest with its time control. Using the left bumper, time can be slowed, stopped or reversed, and while this has the specific adverse reaction on the world it...

Timeshift - Xbox 360 review at Thunderbolt Games

Five years is quite a considerable amount of time in anyone's book - half a decade to put it in perspective. In five years, we have seen the death of the world's most infamous dictator; Great Britain have won the rights to host the 2012 Olympics; Tony...

The OXM Review: If I could turn back time…

Beefy multiplayer with a twist, and plenty of maps to boot!; Satisfying time-bending kills. Pause + shotgun = fun

A largely ho-hum singleplayer campaign

The developers liked the TV show Sliders, didn't they?

Timeshift Review

Perhaps you didn't notice with the avalanche of top-tier titles hitting the Xbox 360 library lately, but Sierra Entertainment has released its newest game, TimeShift. TimeShift is an action-packed first person shooter in which the gamer can manipulate...

In the period leading up to the release of TimeShift I wondered if the time manipulation would be a gimmick and not well instituted, as we've seen in a lot of “bullet time” games. Fortunately TimeShift does a great job incorporating these features...

TimeShift Review

Bad AI, an obtuse story, and a frustrating end game drag TimeShift down into the realm of mediocrity.

What we are left with is a really good shooter that is somewhat hindered by bad AI, a bad storyline and tedious objectives toward the end. The sum total of the whole game still comes out being a pretty good one even with those problems. It also comes...

Timeshift review for the XBOX360

Where's Marty McFly When You Need Him?

Fun to manipulate time; Solid gameplay

but utterly predictable.; You've been here before.; You've been here before

Hopscotching its way from borrowed concept to borrowed concept, TimeShift is substantially less than the sum of its all-too-obvious parts. Many fans of the genre may take comfort in finding so many familiar, tried-and-true conventions. Many more,...

Product Specifications

TimeShift takes the first-person shooter to an entirely different dimension marked by erratic time and unrelenting action. Players take on the role of Colonel Michael Swift, a renowned and recently retired test pilot, who has accepted an offer from the US Government to test out two of the most significant inventions of the century. Armed with a time-control device called the Quantum Suit and a time machine called the Chronomicon, Swift is briefly sent back in time to plant an experimental probe. Upon his return to the present, a major shift has occurred. The world he left has changed beyond all recognition. And his intimate knowledge of the true time stream has made him an enemy of the state. Swift is both on the run and on a mission to set time straight once again.
