Tomb Raider (Xbox 360)

The Tomb Raider reboot breathes new life into an iconic adventurer.

Impressive graphics and game world. A far more human Lara Croft. Incredibly cinematic action sequences. Quality voice acting.

Forgettable secondary characters. Occasionally weak dialogue. Upgrade menu may prove confusing to some.

Tomb Raider

I was extremely skeptical of the new Tomb Raider reboot. As a massive fan of the earlier entries in the series, it would be hard to top the magic of Tomb Raider II, especially since everything we had seen of Tomb Raider so far made it look like an...

Tomb Raider Playtest: Bookworm Archaeologist To Femme Fatale

Tomb Raider starts out with trouble right off the bat with an intense shipwreck scene. The next thing you know, Lara is hanging upside down in a cave full of skulls and eerily lit candles.

Tomb Raider

Very few games, let alone big budget releases, deal with the topic of physical suffering. A character exists in a binary state, alive or dead. Injuries inflicted during combat are minor worries, dealt with by the quick application of an available first...

And the conclusion to the fairly dumb plot is riveting because of it. This is a game that starts on a high note and ends on a high note, and propels Lara with a brisk pace in between, without falling into monotony. It’s an exceptional new start for the...

Tomb Raider Review

Reboots are a risky old business. Any media franchise can begin to grow old and tired, gimmicks and ideas that previously enthralled audiences leaving people cold - and videogames are no exception. There's something else present in gaming, though -...

Tomb Raider

When first demoed for the press, Tomb Raider's brutality took many by surprise. The tone was considerably darker than past installments and it felt like the game was taking some sort sadistic pleasure in the torture of a young Lara Croft. The whole...

After nearly two decades, Crystal Dynamics finally gets it right. Tomb Raider is an action-packed thrill ride full of amazing set-pieces, sharp writing, a fun science fiction story and tons of enemies to gun down. Tomb Raider is a game worthy of the...

Tomb Raider- Xbox 360

Tomb Raider is an exhilarating action adventure that serves as a terrific origin story for the iconic Lara Croft.

Story believably builds Lara up from unsure academic to confident adventurer ; Fascinating setting with a rich sense of history ; Intense combat that offers a good deal of flexibility ; Controls make physically overcoming the island's terrain a...

Forgettable multiplayer component ; Outside of Lara's character arc, story is predictable

Then, there are the all-out firefights. When your presence is known, enemies are smart and aggressive about flushing you out from cover with grenades and Molotovs, which forces you to keep moving and act boldly. Many enemies attack from a distance...

Tomb Raider Preview

It's been three years since the last full console title in the Tomb Raider series was released. It was also the last of the old Lara Croft, as Crystal Dynamics is now rebooting with a dramatic new approach to the tone of both the series and its leading...

Tomb Raider

You can't keep a good adventurer down, and that's never more appropriate than when talking about Lara Croft. She's faced gun-toting mercs, vicious dinosaurs and even her own demonic copy – and let's not dwell on the so-so movies and lacklustre Angel of...

Tomb Raider Xbox 360 Review

Crystal Dynamics has now been making Tomb Raider games longer than the original developer, Core Design, and their three previous offerings in the series, whilst nicely refined and well executed did little to shake up the formula that was first...

Dramatic reinventions of a much loved series are nearly always polarizing and the same rings true for Tomb Raider, which loses or overhauls much of the elements of the earlier games, making for a game that some will find to be too much lacking in the...
