Undertow Review

Ever want to try Battlefield 2… underwater? Undertow isn't quite the same thing, but it's certainly the closest you'll get on the Xbox Live Arcade platform.

This basically puts Undertow down as a very beautiful, very enticing Arcade title, but one that can quickly lose its luster after some time. There will be a very heavy draw to this game for people who just want to pick up something and cruise around...

Undertow

Undersea combat has never been so frantic, as it is in Chair's Undertow. The XBLA release brings an interesting take on arcade shooters. Set in a world where aliens have melted the ice caps, and left humanity to survive in the deep. The battle...

A great mix of modern mechanics with classic arcade action ; Single player story mode is very well done

In game characters could look better

Undertow is a whole lot of fun, and it delivers a full size game in a small package. The classic arcade action makes it easy to pick up, but it manages to deliver enough depth to keep you engaged.

Undertow Review

When a game starts as slow and simple as Undertow, a demo might not only be a bad idea, it might be downright destructive to your desire to give it a chance. Hyped for months as an underwater co-op take on Geometry Wars, the idea sounds as cool as...

Though you start the game as a small scuba diver, you can also select to spawn at any control point as any of the other three classes. The game wisely balances the classes by making the more destructive, gigantic enemies move in a clunkier manner,...

Provides a pretty solid experience online, if you can find people to play against.

Undertow's visuals fall somewhere in the PS2/Xbox range of things, and don't hold up well against some of the more stylized XBLA games you've seen. However, since you're dealing with a pretty large area in each stage, most of the characters are fairly...

Undertow

Undertow stands tall above all other Xbox Live Arcade games as the best of the bunch and accomplishes this by being pure fun in a ten-dollar package. It goes without saying there's a tremendous amount of value here with its robust single player...

XBL Arcade Review: Undertow

Undertow is what Xbox Live Arcade needs more of: a simple premise with perfect execution and excellent multiplayer through Live. Play with up to 16 players through Live or split-screen locally or System Link. Or just add bots. Capture the spawn-points...

Graphics, controls, upgrade system, deep strategy, 16 player through Live, split screen, Sys-link, Sound effects are great

Sometimes the blue team can blend into the background, upgrading in the thick of things is tough, voice acting could be better

Undertow is a compelling, strategic shooter with tons of replay value. Great design decisions make it not only a great buy, but a game that you'll likely come back to when you're done with Mass Effect or Half-Life 2. The 15-stage campaign might be...

Undertow (XBLA)

Thats the downside with XBLA games. It's kinda hard finding any games online. Or so I thought when trying playing some games. Anyhow, the games seems great! I think Im going to cough up the dough to get the full version. If anyone wants to play a game...

Although the concepts may not be new, the setting and general feel of the gameplay help it to become one of the best original Live Arcade games. Why is no one playing it?

Undertow on Xbox 360

Giving Thanks

All in all, Undertow is an enjoyable original XBLA title. And for the price of 800MS points ($10), this game is a steal. The XBLA is geared towards the more casual gamer to play the more casual game. But as the library of online games grow, so do...

The abyss looks into you... and sees a great little multiplayer shooter

16-player online ; Simple controls ; Simple concept

Blah visuals ; Mediocre single-player ; Lame cinematics

Chair Entertainment's Xbox Live Arcade shooter, than the day before Thanksgiving

you move in the direction of your left stick, while firing in the direction of your right stick. It takes a little time if you’re not used to it, but in no time you’re doing both with skill-and the versatility is a plus during fast-paced game like this
