At very high magnification, depth of field is extremely shallow even at small apertures, a fact of life with any lens.
I believe I will provide a nicer end result, but it is going to take me longer than planned to bring everything online. I currently have all of Canon's current AF lenses and all listed (and a couple of yet-unlisted) Sigma and Tamron lenses with the Sigma
Very good optical performance throughout the aperture range, Edges as good as centre. (on APS-C sensor), Contrast and aberration control improved from older model, Value for money
AF still not lightning., Lens cap not useable with hood. (minor niggle)
A good lens made better. The improvement in contrast and extra control of flare and ghosting provided by the DG coating are, in themselves, worth the upgrade.
