Sony Bravia KDL-40W2000: an exceptional screen

By Richard Arrowsmith (cnet.co.uk)

Excellent build quality; timeless design; uncompromised connectivity; 1080p compatibility; advanced image processing; user-friendly features; class-leading performance

Fixed stand

Sony's KDL-40W2000 has set a new benchmark for large screen displays. The full 1080p specification is equipped for the future while LCD image quality has never looked this good

But, even compared to our class-leading Pioneer PDP-427XD plasma, Sony's KDL-...

Sony continues to try and make up for lost time in the LCD stakes

Black levels, General picture performance, Features

Some motion problems, Only average audio

The most obviously noteworthy aspect of the Sony's picture performance is its way with blacks. Rendering the very lowest reaches of the darker end of the spectrum convincingly has thwarted many an LCD screen, but this Sony seems to have cracked this part...

Sony KDL40W2000 Review: 40" Bravia Full HD 1080p LCD TV

By Colin Tang (hdtvtest.co.uk)

If you don't already know what BRAVIA is all about, then you have probably missed the whole point of Sony's bouncy balls and paint explosion adverts. With a slogan like "Colour like.no.other", the multi-award-winning BRAVIA is Sony's brand in marketing it...

Excellent image with good contrast and respectable blacks, Wide range of picture adjustments

Inaccurate colour and slight motion blurring, Average styling considering the price

This model is our current 1080p LCD TV class leader for picture quality and tweakability, this side of 1500 pounds.

This TV has excellent input options, I've plugged in my PS3, PC, Cable TV connection and DVD player and all function flawlessly. The picture is absolutely amazing, Spiderman3 on blu ray is a totally new and incredible experience and PS3 games are stagger...

The remote is a bit tacky and cheap feeling for such a high spec TV. The menu system is less than clear - although basic setup is easy, finding settings such as 1:1 mapping for the pc input is not so clear.

A great 1080p TV, which with high definition (especially 1080p) inputs looks fantastic and does a good job of lower definition inputs as well, It looks great and has a lot of small design features that all enhance the enjoyment of it (like a strap to atta...
