Dual XDVD8182

Dual XDVD8182 Reviews

By Kevin Massy

With its crisp 7-inch widescreen display and a host of viewing and movie audio options, the Dual XDVD8182 is a multimedia system that will be a blockbuster with film lovers.

A cumbersome iPod interface means MP3 player-toting drivers are likely to suffer from repetitive strain syndrome when navigating files. Compared to its wealth of in-car theater settings, options for audio inputs are limited.

The Dual XDVD8182 is a multimedia receiver that will be liked by movie lovers, but less welcomed by audiophiles due to its cumbersome iPod interface and lack of satellite radio capability.

Jensen VM9511TS

Jensen VM9511TS Reviews

By Kevin Massy

The Jensen VM9511TS is an all-singing, all-dancing head unit that gives myriad media-playback options, including MP3, WMA, DVD, satellite radio, and a cool dedicated iPod interface.

The VM9511TS's manifold capabilities don't include USB-compatibility, and users must deploy the screen for anything more complex than tuning the radio. The lack of a removable faceplate makes it more vulnerable to theft.

Jensen VM9510TS

Jensen VM9510TS Reviews

By John R. Delaney

The Jensen VM9510TS has a bright 7-inch LCD touch screen, and its audio quality is top-notch. The unit comes with two remote controls and has an SD card slot.

The Jensen VM9510TS's function buttons are small and poorly lit, and there's no dedicated satellite radio connector. The unit lacks a detachable faceplate.

Sony XAV-A1

Sony XAV-A1

By John R. Delaney

Solid screen quality; lots of A/V connections; plays multiple media formats; XM ready.

Expensive; no native GPS support.

With its multiple A/V connections and DVD/CD player, the Sony XAV-A1 is a very capable head unit. It's an attractive choice, if you can afford it.
