Good viewing angle, DivX support, great included headphones
Poor inbuilt speakers, some dot pitch and contrast problems with the screen
A decent enough mid-range player, Toshiba's SD-P1900 boasts enough features and quality to be useful, although it lacks the video quality of higher end units.
Simple and easy-to-use recording, great inbuilt editing tool
Some noise and chromatic aberrations when upscaling DVDs, lacks a HD tuner despite HD upscaling
The DMR-EX77 seems to be having a hard time deciding what kind of device it wants to be. Although it upscales DVDs to high definition, it can't decode high-definition TV. Apart from this little contradiction however, it's generally a functional and easy-t...
Great quality Blu-ray and DVD playback, media streaming
Very expensive
Ignoring price, this is probably the best Blu-ray player we've seen to date. If you're willing to pay a premium then it's an excellent product.
Good quality video playback, respectable included headphones, DivX support
Inbuilt speakers are disappointing, high price tag
Although the inbuilt speakers aren't the best, the SD-P2900 otherwise comprises quite a high quality and functional portable DVD player. If the price tag doesn't deter you, it's well worth considering.

Great 1080p/24Hz high-definition playback, excellent DVD upscaling, attractive slimline design, very affordable
Lacks advanced audio features, slight lag when navigating HD-DVDs
The HD-EP10 from Toshiba is the most affordable HD-DVD player capable of 1080p playback on the market, and is an excellent option for those looking for an inexpensive way to experience HD-DVD.

Excellent audio performance, great Blu-ray and DVD upscaling playback, streamlined interface, attractive design
Slight lag times at startup and when navigating discs
The BDP-S500 is a powerful Blu-ray player, geared towards enthusiasts. Its high-end audio capabilities is best suited to a system that already has high quality audio products, although even on its own it's a great device.
Good value for money, great high-definition playback including 24Hz support
Slightly long lag times with Blu-ray playback and power-up, lack of support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD audio codecs
The BDP-S300 is an excellent value Blu-ray player, delivering a great feature list for a much more affordable price than most advanced units.
Great recording functionality, support for DVD-RAM, DVD upscaling
VHS becoming increasingly rare, no high-definition digital reception
Although the DMR-EZ47V is a great option for anyone looking for a DVD/VCR combo, the gradual disappearance of VHS tapes means that this product is really only suitable for those who already have large collections.
Attractive design, good sized screen and viewing angles, comes with mounting bracket
Poor image quality, below average sound
The Panasonic DVD-LS80 is yet another mediocre portable DVD player.
Great Blu-ray and DVD playback, responsive interface
Design may irritate some users, slightly expensive
It's not the cheapest on the market, but the Panasonic DMP-BD10A should satisfy anyone looking for high quality high definition playback.
