Impressive speed, excellent image quality
Basic PDF capabilities only
The V200's great price, performance, and image quality should put it on the short list of anyone who is searching for a proficient general-purpose scanner.
Lots of features, good monochrome document scanning, sheet feeder.
Slow duplex scanning, visible banding with sheet fed scans, cleaning
The 5590 is a good scanner for office documents but less so for photos and film
Good image quality for the price
Slow speed, limited resolution, basic software
A cheap and cheerful scanner that offers enough to make it a worthwhile purchase
Excellent performance for both film and photos, easy to use software
Software not so good for monochrome film, the high performance comes at a price
Though it's probably the best home and office flatbed scanner available, most people don't need a scanner this good
Useful shortcut buttons
Could be a tad quicker, poor quality film negative scanning
Good at scanning photos and documents, fails miserably at scanning film
Low cost to performance ratio, Good image quality, Useful bundled software
Average speed
Though it's not the fastest scanner around, the dual-purpose Epson Perfection 3490 delivers high-quality photo and film scans at a relatively low price
Well built and robust, Powerful, Impressive optical resolution, Excellent quality scans
Software requires extra hard drive space
We've been talking about the ScanJet 4850 as a high-end scanner, but the truth is that its price tag really isn't that high. For a model with this many features and this level of construction, it really is a steal.

Very compact, Affordable
Low performance, Sub-par image quality, Limited features, Low resolutions
The Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 is very inexpensive, but its compromises in speed, quality, and features make it hard to recommend
Compact, Fast scanning,
Low image quality, Poor automatic image correction
The small Canon CanoScan LiDE 60 is best suited for budget-minded users who want an easy, unobtrusive, and undemanding scanner.

High Speed, good quality once defaults are turned off
Unimpressive image quality in default mode, lack of features
Although the HP Scanjet 4890 Photo Scanner satisfies the need for speed - especially with transparency scanning - its features and default image quality could be better.
