Epson has created a rounded and solid design for its most advanced home cinema projector yet, bucking the trend for the standard air-con unit look. But beyond its curves and gloss black coat, it's the tech we're scrutinising
Easy setup, Immaculate picture, Realistic colour palette
Some horizontal motion blur, Black areas can look hollow
Stocked with features, Epson's top-of-the-range projector deals well with colours and detail, though it's pricey
Panasonic more than most has set its crosshairs on the HD gamer, and with the LCD-driven AX200E it has made a model fit for the job.The AX200E is no lightweight. As well as being a large projector, it also boasts lots of connections, with two HDMI inputs,...
Two HDMI inputs, Living room-friendly setup, Great picture, Excellent 'game' mode
Average contrast (despite the claims), Bulky design
A brilliant projector for the HD gamers among you
February 2007 saw the debut of JVC's DLA-HD1. Out of the blue, this remarkable projector suddenly carried the company's previously interesting, but ultimately flawed, Digital Light Amplification technology right into the thick of the AV battlefield.
Spectacular picture quality, Plenty of features, Attractive design, Fair price
Quite big, Doesn't have a 12V trigger output
The D-ILA revolution continues apace with another extraordinarily good home cinema projector
After leaving the affordable full HD projection market to LCD for far too long, a new breed of affordable DLP projector is finally starting to appear. And HD DLP has now come of age with the arrival of InFocus' first 1920 x 1080 DLP model, the £2,500 IN81
After leaving the affordable full HD projection market to LCD for far too long, a new breed of affordable DLP projector is finally starting to appear. And HD DLP has now come of age with the arrival of InFocus' first 1920 x 1080 DLP model, the £2,500 IN81
Stunning pictures, Nice design, Full HD, Good connectivity, Plenty of features
Occasional rainbow effect, Slightly noisy, Limited zoom
A genuinely outstanding projector at a truly irresistible price
DLP is making up for lost time. Chip supplier Texas Instruments has apparently decided that it has let its LCD rivals have more than enough time grooming the entry-level 1080p market, and has slashed the price of its own comparable chipsets
Well built, Runs quietly, Very noiseless and stable HD images
Image lacks punch and dynamism, Black level could be better, Limited connectivity
Has a lot going for it but ultimately it's image quality itself that stops it from truly impressing
Whatever else Italian projector company Sim2 may be, it's certainly not cheap. To date its ethos has been to deliver the best results possible at any price. So we approached the Domino D10 with mixed feelings
Price, Features, Many aspects of picture quality
Slight sharpness and noise level issues at times, Not that bright
Sim2's first budget model comfortably holds its own against some seriously stiff competition

Most people are likely to associate the Epson brand with printers and scanners, rather than home cinema gear. Yet, and this may come as a surprise, the company is actually the bone fide world number one in projectors: supply and manufacture
Beautiful colour, Impressive detail, Flexible configuration
Disappointing black level, No HD aspect-ratio selection
Despite its Full HD billing, pictures could be better. But you'll still struggle to beat it at this price
Two thoughts are possibly going through your mind as you look at this mid-priced DLP projector from Eiki. The first is probably, 'Who the heck is Eiki?', and the second might be, 'Haven't I seen this PJ somewhere before?'
Vivid 720p imaging and accurate DVD upscaling, Good blacks
Some fan noise, Short throw ratio and no lens shift limits installation options
It's a bargain, but competition from Full HD rivals is increasingly high

We previously tested and adored SIM2's HT3000 Full HD DLP projector. But SIM2 apparently thought there was still room for improvement. Sat before us today is the HT3000E, where the extra E signifies a really pretty major upgrade of the original model
Black level response, Decent connectivity and features
Occasional rainbow effect, Over-complicated user interface
Sim2 has reinvigorated the HT3000 to spectacular effect, leaving us simply dumbstruck
