Snagit 9.1

Snagit 9.1 review

By Liane Cassavoy

The handy Snagit screen-capture tool just continues to get better. The latest version, Snagit 9.1, enhances Snagit's already-excellent editing features.

The enhancements in Snagit 9.1 aren't major changes, but they're useful. If you already have an earlier version, it's worth upgrading to Snagit 9.1. And if you don't yet use this screen-capture program, now is a great time to start.

Amazon MP3

Amazon MP3 review

By Simon Jary

The Amazon MP3 music store is a real rival to Apple's iTunes Music Store, beating it on price, quality and freedom.

While iTunes currently offers a greater depth of music - as well as movies and TV shows - Amazon MP3 is pretty certain to catch up. Its prices are erratic but I couldn't find one album there that was cheaper in iTunes. And some of the savings are dramatic...

Adobe Audition 3.0 For PC

Adobe Audition 3.0 review

By Andrew Harrison

Adobe Audition 3.0 is a professional-grade digital audio-editing program, with tools that will be essential to recording and mastering engineers, musicians and even forensic scientists.

Adobe Audition 3.0 may not be the cheapest but it remains a top-notch audio editing program. More than just a MIDI controller and audio program, it lets you graphically and colourfully see deep inside the inner workings of music and audio samples, while h...

Nero 9

Nero 9 review

By Jon L Jacobi

Nero 9 is an extremely competent suite for burning CDs and DVDs of all types, as well as for playing, importing, and manipulating video and audio, including HD.

Nero 9 is definitely a better product than version 8, and for new users it's a great tool. But considering the cost of the upgrade, we suggest saving your pennies for version 10. Versus the similarly priced Roxio Creator 2009, the story remains largely th...

Adobe Soundbooth CS4

Adobe Soundbooth CS4 review

By Christopher Breen

Adobe Soundbooth CS4 is something more akin to a professional audio editor than its predecessor ever was.

Adobe Soundbooth CS4 maintains the application's ease-of-use, making it appropriate for content creators who have had little experience with audio editors, while adding enough features to entice those with more-advanced audio editing needs.

Adobe Fireworks CS4

Adobe Fireworks CS4 review

By Cyndy Cashman

New features in Adobe Fireworks CS4 provide designers with advanced tools to create websites, applications, and interactive designs.

Fireworks CS4 came out in beta form earlier this year. With a revamped interface, Smart Guides, and ability to export clickable prototypes into an interactive PDF, it's a worthy upgrade.

Adobe Photoshop CS4

Adobe Photoshop CS4 review

By Lesa Snider King

Adobe Photoshop CS4, the latest version of Adobe's flagship image-editing program, will hit the streets practically on the heels of Photoshop CS3, which debuted a little less than 18 months ago.

Do the updates to Photoshop Creative Suite 4 represent big changes? You betcha. Will they take some getting used to? Heck yes. Will you like Adobe Photoshop CS4? For the most part, the answer is a resounding yes.

Apple iTunes 8

Apple iTunes 8 review

By Nick Mediati

Apple iTunes 8 offers a fresh way to browse music, improved accessibility for the vision-impaired, and an automatic playlist-generation feature dubbed Genius.

Apple iTunes 8 remains solid, although it still has both its benefits and its quirks as a media organiser, player, and jukebox. None of the new features are what we would characterise as a must-have update, however. Genius is a useful - and generally well...
