Sony has raised the bar for action and sports fans with the first 200Hz television promising silky smooth motion. So how noticeable are the results?
Sony's 200Hz Motionflow processing helps smooth out the motion in fast panning scenes in movies and sport. The improvement compared to some of the budget brand televisions in amazing, though it is not nearly as striking as the improvement over the 100Hz B...

We all dream of owning a huge television, but is a 52 inch high-def giant like Sony's KDL-52W4000 Bravia all it's cracked up to be?
Videophiles will tell you the optimal viewing distance for Full HD 1080p content is around 1.5 times the size of the screen (screen sizes are measured diagonally). Any closer and you can see the individual pixels in the image. Any further away and you sta...

The world's most amazing multi-room audio system just got better with the addition of internet radio streaming and an iPhone app for controlling your music from anywhere in the house.
Until now the Sonos system has let you listen to your digital music collection, from a computer or network drive, or to online subscription services such as Rhapsody, Napster and SIRIUS

Another cracking Panasonic flatscreen, which impresses with both its integrated TV tuners and external sources
Where the ergonomics of remote control, set-up menus and EPG are concerned, the 'LZD80 continues the good work of Panasonics past. They are straightforward, well thought-out and comprehensive. Sound's not bad by flatscreen standards, but that's not high p...

If you're in the market for a smaller LCD and the price tag doesn't make you dizzy, this Loewe has few peers for visual and audio performance
The picture: deep blacks, natural colours, no noise
Expensive for its size. Could do with two HDMIs
But Loewe TVs aren't just about price tags and pretty lines. The German manufacturer is renowned for the high level of tech specs it offers and the audio-visual quality of its sets

Apart form your credit card's cries of anxiety, you'll love the flexibility and performance of this TV
Exemplary HD images. Sharp, well detailed images from SD sources, too.
Price. Only an 80GB hard drive. On-screen menus are poor.
Inside the dreamy exterior is a HD-ready, 80GB hard disk. Picture performance is pretty good, too. Black definition is superb and images are sharp, but a hint of noise is visible from both off-air and external sources, although this isn't apparent from HD...

One of the very best multichannel speaker systems around. If you've the space and cash, it has to be heard
Hi-fi niceties apart, this B&W package is also a lot of fun. It's just as capable crashing out the explosive rhythm section of The Who's celebrated Live at the Royal Albert Hall DVD - complete with The Ox's bass grumbling away against the tight, clean dru...

Terrific value and a high-quality set - it's not Full HD, but at this price, you won't miss it
Quality image with TV and DVD. Looks great with HD, too
Not Full HD, but that isn't everything, particularly at this price
This is because there are several factors that affect picture quality €" resolution, yes, but black levels, contrast, colour accuracy, motion smoothness and digital noise can all have as much impact on your enjoyment of a TV, particularly when you're wat

There's no ad-skipping, but we've had a play and we're still impressed. Slick recording options make the TiVo HD outclass a great option for keeping up with favourite TV shows and movies.
Next year's firmware update will also let you stream content from a PC or the web, but you'll have to pay for the upgrade. Our review unit was easy to set up and the TiVo requires a broadband connection so it can download a full two-week Electronic Progra...

An older model, but in its day, everything about this set is big and clever. If you're big and clever too, then you'll want to get your wallet out
Great performance with HD and DVDs. Classy looks and interface
The picture's not quite as hot through the digital and analogue tuners
Indeed, big-screen TVs are getting so cheap our enduring dream of lining every surface of our labs with retina-scorching plasmas gets ever closer by the day
