Digital Photo Frames

Smartparts SP8PRT

The Smartparts SP8PRT Digital Picture Frame and Printer marries a thermal-dye photo printer with an 8-inch digital picture frame.

Print pack holds both dye roll and paper. Highly water-resistant photos. LCD offers wide angle of view.

Photo paper is unusually thin, with significant curl. No built-in editing features. High cost per print.

The name says it all: The Smartparts SP8PRT Digital Picture Frame and Printer lets you view pictures on the frame's LCD, and print them out as well.

Excellent color accuracy and fine-tuning options (brightness, contrast, tint, and color). Touch-screen controls. Compatible with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth USB adapters. Can use Wi-Fi adapter to connect to Google's Picasa Web Albums and download photos.

IR blaster is visible. Logging into Picasa Web Albums via Wi-Fi takes a few minutes. Image colors change depending on viewing angle.

This frame's LCD has rich colors and lots of image adjustments for the pros. It gives the highly rated Sony DPF-V900 9 a run for the money.

Wireless connectivity. 128MB of internal memory. Widescreen. Video and MP3 playback. Automatic on/off timer. Headphone jack. Mini USB port. Excellent remote. Adjustable brightness.

Photo quality could be better. No audio out. Using on-screen keyboard is tedious. Video playback is choppy.

It's the first Wi-Fi-enabled digital photo frame we've seen that is relatively easy to set up and use. Although its photo quality isn't the best, the frame's other offerings-including 128MB of onboard memory and headphone jack-attracts attention.

Westinghouse DPF-0561

This 5.6-inch digital photo frame displays quality photos for use on your desk or dresser, but its price is a bit steep for what it can do.

Adjustable brightness. Good picture quality. Internal memory. Eight slide-show transition types. Includes three interchangeable frames.

Low resolution display. Doesn't support Memory Stick Duo/Pro. No MP3 or MPEG playback. No remote control. Design flaws. Price is steep.
