Plantronics Calisto Pro

Plantronics has made some of the most popular Bluetooth headsets ever to grace our desks; the Voyager 510 was a reader favorite for a long time, as was the Discovery 655. But few people know that Plantronics doesn't just make headsets for mobile use; in f...

The Plantronics Calisto Pro Series is a home phone system with a Bluetooth headset, which can be used with the landline, cell phones, as well as VoIP. Sound quality is excellent, and setup is easy and painless.

The Plantronics Calisto Pro Series does not fully integrate with your cell phone, and we would've liked to see a better sync with VoIP services. Also, the Bluetooth headset takes a while to fit properly, and there's a little bit of background static.

Though the Plantronics Calisto Pro Series is easy to use and has excellent sound quality, we ultimately wanted more cell phone and VoIP integration.

RCA 28310EE1 Expandable Cordless Phone

GE 28310EE1 (Skype)

By David Carnoy

We've reviewed several dual-mode cordless phones with Skype in 2007, and if you've compared the various models, you'll notice that our reviews sound very similar. That's because apart from styling and the availability of additional handsets, there's very...

Internet and landline calls on one cordless handset; no connection to your PC required for Internet calls; relatively simple setup; phonebook stores up to 200 Skype contacts; built-in speakerphone on handset; additional handsets are available (you can hav...

Look and feel of the system seems a tad cheap.

GE's dual-mode Skype phone/cordless handset may not be the sexiest model out there, but its ability to toggle between Skype and landline calls--and even do three-way conferencing between lines--sets it apart from the current crop of dual-mode Skype phones...

GE Cell Fusion

While a lot of young people are said to be ditching their landlines, the vast majority of households continue to maintain some sort of wired line in addition to their cellular phones. As a result, people are often juggling both lines at home--fielding cal...

Standard landline and cell phone calls on cordless handsets; good audio quality; great battery life; built-in speakerphone and digital answering system; includes two handsets, with support for up to five more.

Pedestrian handset design.

The GE Cell Fusion ably combines access to home and cellular phone lines in one convenient package.

VTech ip5825

VTech ip5825

By Stewart Wolpin

Except for a couple of annoying quirks, the two-handset expandable VTech ip5825 system is one of the great values in cordless phones. For $79, you get two 5.8GHz digital-spread-spectrum handsets with some handy features; in fact, what is missing may not m...

Great price for two digital-spread-spectrum handsets; one shared phone book; call timer; standard AAA rechargeable batteries.

Short handset battery life; confusing control-button array; "hybrid" 2.4GHz/5.8GHz; no battery meter.

The 5.8GHz VTech ip5825 is a dual-handset cordless phone system with a bargain price, a nice array of features, and decent call quality.
