XPS 420 is a mixed bag with pricey upgrades and some dishonest options

By royaljester

This machine is a decent mid-level desktop, better than your basic $400 machine for surfing the web, but not quite enough . What I really like is how quiet this machine is, and if it's like any of the other Dells I bought I'm hoping it'll last me ...

Quiet fan, very quiet when hard drive not in useDecent specs for Windows Vista

Not a gaming machine (poor video card, memory issues)Moderately loud hard driveDishonest upgrades

Quad Core Power, But There Are Better Out There

By nightwolf001

First off, I purchased this PC as a multimedia PC, not a gaming PC, so running the latest & greatest FPS games are not a factor for me, as the most I run are RTS type games. I needed a powerful multimedia center, able to record & edit video and photos, ....

Very quiet, displays tv & blu ray dvds very well

Expensive, extra cost of quad core & memory not worth the price

Entry Level Performance Desktop

By rex73

Intro With the advance in technology the limits of the desktop PC had been pushed further and further while the price for such performance and features had gone down considerably so that even the average consumer can afford to own the high performance .....

Powerful CPU (quad core, good balance of price to features as a base)

Light fragile case, expensive upgrades, quite few performance bottlenecks.

Good machine for the money

By Bradman

I am getting older (I admit it), I am getting tired of fighting with my home built water cooled gaming rig. With no one to call, except myself, when things decide to go bad I am getting tired. I really enjoyed building it at the time but lately as it ...

Seems solidly built, fast processor, quiet

Limited upgrade options
