Don't be fooled by the naysayers. The technical reviews showing the 50D to have a sensor noisier than the 40D's are correct, but what most people miss and don't mention here is that the technical comparisons are made with noise reduction turned off. The 5...
Excellent ergonomics, magnesium body, 6.3 fps, fantastic LCD screen. The lenses I use with mine are EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS and EF 70-200 2.8L IS. The sharpness and detail in small 100% crops with these lenses are astounding. 15MP really is an improvement, allo...
(nit picking) It shouldn't, by default, allow shooting without a CF card.

Newegg is a great place to buy many things, but at these prices, camera equipment is not one of them Fifteen hundred dollars is far too high for this camera body.
The resolution is fantastic, the high ISO quality is great, the feature set is immense, and the interface is easy to use. The AF adjust allows you to tweak the AF accuracy of your lens, the live view allows you to check your focus and exposure before you...
I would have liked to see better high ISO instead of huge increase in megapixels. A 12MP sensor with better high ISO would have been preferable for me, though the high ISO is already great on this camera. Also, I would have liked to see chromatic aberrati...

I stick with Canon because of their quality and their continual updating of the BIOS and other features that the photographic community wants and desires in a good Digital SLR.
The best camera I have owned. I have a 20D, 40D, XTi, XSi and now the 50D. It has the highest quality of any of the other models I have purchased. Battery life has been extended, rear display is clearer than any other and the quality if very evident from...

Noise is not an issue with this camera. Maybe the people complaining about noise aren't real good with a camera?? Just a thought. I have taken pictures at ISO 3200 with great results. I have a hard time finding noise on the lower ISO settings!! It blows t...

The saying goes that Canon is designed by engineers, and Nikon by photographers.
Finally Canon has given us an upgrade to the 20D worth it's salt, now if they'd just stuck with the 40D sensor...
Noise at ISO 800 and above slightly higher than 40D. More obvious at 1600 and 3200.

I bought 50D despite overwhelming evidence of the above cons from various review sites, because I wanted to run my own tests. My own tests were pretty much in line with what reviewers found. Those who upgrade from 40D or older might find some improvement,...
- Digic IV engine
- Noisier sensor with less dynamic range than the predecessor (40D), competitors (Nikon D300, Nikon D90) and cheaper models (Rebel XSi)

The Canon 50D is equal to or superior to the Nikon D300 in most if not all aspects, and it is about $500.00 cheaper... Your preference, your call; personally I like the idea of being able to take the $500 and buy a really cool lens to go with this AWESOME...
First, the upgrades to the sensor and processor is worth the price alone. Second, the camera has the ability to fine tune the auto focus so that your not stuck with pictures that are "just a nudge off" or having to set the focus manually. Last (but not le...
Its only a con if your a "Speed Freak" on the shutter but the 50 is a touch slower than the 40 in terms of how many shots per second you can take; for the most part this wont matter unless your one for sports shots.

I have owned over 50 bodies in my 25-plus year career. This is the most versatile and best bang for the buck. I switched from nik to cannon when they introduced the epic failure they called the D2Xs and VR series of lenses. Many loyal photogs who built th...
Features are amazing. Dynamic range is awesome. This camera wipes it's but with the Nikon D3, at less than 1/4 the cost. Superior to the 1D Mk III's in many respects. Canon's optics, from the 14mm/2.8 L to the 500/f4 L are superb. Battery life is excellen...
