For the price, it's hard to beat the quality and construction of this camera - it feels very solid in my hands. Operation is very quick, it's ready to shoot nearly instantly. I have found images to be very clean up to ISO 800, and quite usable at ISO 1600...

It's really annoying having to use a menu to switch between AF-S and AF-C

This one is going to be a winner, Its quick and easy to use with excellent results. Feels light and 'plasticy', not like your usual Nikon, but its not your usual Nikon price either. Metering is accurate with the usual choices and the focusing is quick and...

I bought the SB800 flash with the D70, the unit is great, but it has a new 'lock' which is rubbish. The first day I used it the flash came away from the camera four times. I now have an elastic band wound tightly around the turn lock to prevent it from un...

I have done a few test shots comparing D70 and D100. Here is what I have found: 1. In jpg format D70's 'normal'(therefore not sharpened) setting yields sharper image with more details then D100's when sharpening is set to "low" 2. If any of you have not...

I do however, have a deep disgust toward Nikon's maketing stretagy. SB-80DX does not work TTL on D70, so there goes another $340 to buy a new SB-800! There is no cable release jack or thread for D70. You need to buy a wireless cable release. This one is l...

I can't say enough good things about this camera. I just received it and have taken about 400 shots - no issues whatsoever. I debated between the D70 and the D100. I settled on the D70 because of the price...the final decision was made when I looked at t...

There are some items that I wish were hot buttoned on the actual camera. For instance - if I want to switch to Continuous focus, I have to go through the menu, as opposed to my old Nikon N90 where it was the flip of a switch ; Also, the pop-up flash is ra...

I probably have not been using the camera long enough to officially rate it; however, I shot about 800 frames the first weekend that I owned it. Most of these were at my childrens' baseball practices and were action shots shot in continuous mode. I am ama...

No problems to speak of so far. With such large images, the camera should really have a Firewire/IEEE1394 port on it. However, the problem is easily resolved with a Firewire memory card reader for the computer

This is a great camera for novice on up! I bought this camera for my wife who is graduating from a coolpix. It has been everything it was advertised. The iTT flash is right on. The auto features are easy to set and use.

No problems at all with the camera, but would have preferred D100 controls as far as the focus goes, (rather than go through the menu to set). Other features are better than D100 though

I've used lots of Nikon film cameras over the last 20 years, including the N70, F3, and F5. I've used a CP5000 for the last two years, supplemented recently by a CP4300. The D70 compares favorably with the film SLR's. Power-up is instantaneous, shutter l...

None so far. My F5 had to go back for repair work twice, so the D70 is way ahead of the game so far. The magnification factor sucks for wide-angle but turned my Nikkor 80-200mm 1:2.8 AF-D into a 120-300mm 1:2.8 ( I understand how this occurs but for pract...

The D70 so far is amazing. Images are fantastic. The 18-70MM AF-S G that comes with it is great. My 70-300MM G has amazing clarity. I am still experimenting outdoors since the weather has been so bad in RI. However, I will give a full report. Battery is S...

Lack of a vertical grip. However, I have been assured by few at Nikon that it will be out. No official date. It better be an option or there will be many disappointed !!! If you have a USB issue transferring pics from the D70, then go into the D70 menu an...

I purchased this camera and a Canon EOS 300D at the same time to test and compare. I am a novice photographer coming up from a Canon S45 (great camera). While the D70 may have cost a bit more (999.99 for the body, 369.99 for the lense) the quality and con...

Home run, Nikon! Images surpass those from my D100. Love the new arrangement of controls on the back. It's light, and fits the hand well. Pop-up flash is noticeably better than D100's. Wish you could have made it TTL compatible with the 80DX so I didn't h...

None yet, after about 850 images under varied conditions and settings ; Oooops! My autofocus failed yesterday (4-6-04). Still takes great pics with manual focus, but has to go back to B&H (who are great about such things) ; Update: This was my error, not...
