Olympus E-520

By StephenL

A worthwhile upgrade to the E-510 which in turn had been an upgrade to my Canon 5D. Better IQ improvement than the figures would suggest - more dynamic range and, if you choose to shoot Jpegs, closer to the initial Raw file. Minor niggle is that memory co...

For some time now I have been looking for a "compact" camera. After a lot of searching, reading and annoying salespeople I recently bought a E520. It's a really good feeling when you buy something that totally suits you. This little camera has a big he...

No problems other than what might annoy an unrealistic perfectionist.

I have used the e510, the uz740, the sp550, and now the e520. The construction felt a tad bit not as finely made as the e510, for which I loved the colors, although I had some problem before the firmware corrected most of the errors. The image quality was...

Compared with canon 450D, nikon d60, Olympus e520 is good in colors, but lose out in low light performance. I wish I had retained my e510, which is a better camera than the e520, under the present state of white balance, and firmware ; Olympus has to seri...

I just upgraded my Oly E-510 to E-520, I was a bit hesitating on purchasing the new one , as I heard that the new E-520 does not offer a major upgrade, however I took the chance, and also because I was looking for a flash wireless solution taht is not off...

I've been using the E-520 during a three week trip to the US this summer along with the 12-60 and 50-200 SWD lenses. From my experience, the image quality is very similar to the E-3 (which I used before), it is very easy to use and it is more feature p...

Move from Canon G9 to E-520. No regret at all. I have researched a lot before buying E-520, especially comparing with Canon 450D. Design: E-520 > 450D, E-520 is lighter, better feeling in hand. Construction: E-520 = 450D Feature: E-520>=450D Image quality...

Not really have one, but most E-520 users said high ISO performance not comparable to Canon & Nikon. I have to admit that. But I feel E-520 is still very good for me. Espeacially a night shot I have at ISO 100, hand held. Picture is very clean.

I bought a 2 lens kit, 14-42 and 70-300 and i am very impressed. I have previously owned the Nikon D80 but got a bit fed up carrying a bag of lenses, so I sold that and went for a top end bridge camera - however, it was not responsive enough for my wildli...

No problems as usuch, but since I have the space, i may as well mention niggles. The on/off lever is strangly located so that your finger catches the command dial when used 9though doesn't turn the dial) ; The camera has a super fine setting but it is not...

I am a beginner... been taking photos for about 4months now. I started with a Canon G9 and used it for about 3 1/2 months. I had to choose between the Olympus E520 and the Canon 450d. Then I decided to buy the Olympus E520 over the Canon 450d cause I got...

the menu does not have descriptions on some of its functions and I had to read the manual at times ; live view is not yet perfected. Auto focus has problems in live view at times. I found the problem to occur in dark environments or in low light. Im start...

After trying this out at the same time with an XSI, I decided to keep the E520. It was just easier for me to take good pictures indoors. Plus the price was right compared to the XSI. Highly recommended! Lots of features and easy to use for a newcomer to t...

AutoFocus flashing is disturbing, even though I know that's how it works ; LiveView still needs work and autofocus is very slow ; Viewfinder is small compared to the XSI ; Wish menu options all had text descriptions
