I've only had my SB-400 Speedlight Flash for a couple of weeks, but already I love it. I always prefer natural light whenever possible, and the SB-400's flexible head lets me simulate a more natural effect while illuminating dark subjects.

I would recommend this unit to anyone taking close up shots. The range described in the product description is 'pie-in-the-sky'. I am seeing 2-14 in my shooting. The unit recycles well.

The SB-400 flash works simply and consistently. Not fancy and complex like the more expensive flashes by Nikon. But, easy to carry, easy to use and inexpensive. Thanks Nikon.

I bought a sunpak QF30 for my new D40x but was slow (almost 20 sec) hence returned it and got the SB400. Its great. I used in a burst mode it kept up for 5 shots before going dark. nice construction. Bounce works great.
