Terratec Noxon 2 Radio for iPod

Internet radio, FM radio, network audio, iPod dock and bass thumping speaker - but is it trying too hard?

As I mentioned at the start, the Noxon is unusual looking especially if you remove it from the speaker base. If you do it rests at an angle on the LCD display that extends down from the front – it’s quite a strange look. It fits snugly on the speaker...

Terratec Noxon 2 Radio for iPod

With the Terratec Noxon 2 Radio for iPod you can enjoy a plethora of internet-radio delights.

Internet Radio is a fantastic addition to any household, and the Noxon 2 Radio for iPod sits amongst the best units on the market. Its iPod control is something of a letdown though, and we think it'd be better to just act as a throughput and speaker...

Terratec - Noxon 2 radio for iPod

If you're a big music fan you'll have noticed how accessible modern technology makes not only the albums and artists you have in your collection, but a wealth of additional downloadable and streaming content. As well ...

Despite the potential of the Noxon to offer you an almost unlimited selection of music, it's quite expensive, especially considering the issues we had with inconsistent network connections and the questionable design.

To get the most from the hardware you'll need to get it connected to a uPnP network in the home and use the TwonkyMusic server software supplied to share media folders on your computer. Despite a few initial teething problems we eventually got this...

Product Specifications

With the new NOXON 2 radio the performances of the well-known NOXON 2 audio are enhanced. Besides integrated loudspeakers the new offspring has now receiving capabilities for analog FM radio and a built-in wake-up function. Common and popular characteristics of the brother NOXON 2 audio remain: Like that the music archive on the hard disk of the computer or thousands of internet radio stations will be available in every corner of the house. To accomplish this, a WLAN network (ideally a router with wireless access point) and a broadband Internet connection (e.g. DSL or Cable) must be present. An Ethernet connection is also integrated. The functional design is simple: With perfect ease, the NOXON 2 radio establishes an ad-hoc connection to a laptop or connects to a wireless network through a WLAN router. An integrated USB 2.0 host adds the finishing touch for complete music diversity: Use it to connect a portable MP3 player (with mobile storage compatibility) or a portable USB 2.0 hard drive containing your personal play lists. The audio player is designed for 54 Mbit networks (802.11g) and can also be operated on 11 Mbit networks (802.11b), while the external antenna ensures good signal quality. WEP and WPA encryption support provides secure data transport from the sender to the receiver. It's just as easy to tune in to any of the infinitely many, mostly ad-free, niche radio stations on the Internet. You don't even need the computer to do so: as long as there's an access point available, the NOXON 2 radio can connect to the Internet on its own. The remote control that comes with it lets you switch stations at the touch of a button, while the WLAN audio player lets you display stations sorted by genre or language.
