At £90 this Sony Blu-ray player sure has a tidy price but does it have the picture and sound quality to compete with more expensive rivals? Fingers crossed

Sony BDP-S390 Blu-ray player

Very good DVD/Blu-ray picture performance. Good range of smart functions. Excellent value for money. WiFi for convenient connectivity.

No 3D. Only one USB means BD-Live memory is sticking out from front of unit.

The Sony BDP-S390 is a very smart Blu-ray player that sells for a very good price, thanks primarily to eliminating such features as 3D support.

Works well for me

A good first entry in Blu-Ray playing in a cost effective way. I have no experience with any other BR player so my comment about being sluggish may be the case with all brands and models of players. Be sure to download and PRINT the complete manual....

Refurbished and working well so far ; Nice and compact so it was easy to find a space in the cabinet with TV, and all the rest of the gear ; The refurbished price plus a Newegg further discount code made it cost effective for me to get started with BR...

Seems very slow bringing up the DVD and somewhat sluggish responding compared to my 2 non Blu-Ray DVD players ; Required going through the entire setup process before I got a usable picture on my 42" flat panel TV ; Doesn't come with the manual though...

Sony BDP-S390

I received mine today and it was shipped in the original Sony packaging and seems to be brand new. Perhaps NewEgg has been reading these reviews?

The low price for both a Blu-Ray player and essentially a Roku box all-in-one can't be beat

Slow interface, lots of lag. This is the reason I deducted one star

Looks like these have problems

Frankly, I bought this to TRY the streaming services ... lower $$ than a Roku. I went through those a little learning and it wasn't bad at all. Then I collected a few CD, DVD, and BluRay discs ... didn't play any thru until the 6th, a Diana Krall...

Inexpensive, meets(?) my needs, almost exactly as advertised

Quit during a disc playback, 6th I tried in it. I'm AMAZED it wasn't damaged in transit ... as others have said, plain brown box, no packing, not even held closed but by a loose shipping label. Not that a pair of AA cells is difficult to come by, but...

The First one I order was at my house it 2 days

Basically the BDP-S390 is easy to setup and grab the wireless connection quickly on the second floor. The reason I order a second one because of quality of the product. Plus FAST SHIPPING it a shame I can"t say that about this order. On the first one...

Now is the right time to get a BD Player

I've been holding off on replacing my DVD player on my second TV. My other TV has a PS3 attached. In the past, BD players were too slow and too expensive, so I never bothered to buy a standalone BD player.

Good startup time, lots of online features

YouTube login information needs to be entered every time, remote doesn't work with my non-Sony TV
