Good Little HD Camera

Being a HD newb when I bought the camera it took me three months to figure out why the audio track would not play on my PS3. It turned out the bit rate was too low, a problem that can be remedied easily during post-processing. Now that I've figured it...

I've had my HD-DV (which is the same camera @ 720p) for nine months and really like it. I use it regularly on a tripod to record my kids' basketball games. People always remark about the clarity and good color. I took this camera with me on a...

The audio is recorded at a very poor 32 kbps. In fact my PS3 won't play the audio until I re-encode it at 96 kbps. Re-encoding the audio is not difficult and is possible with freely available softeware (YAMB & MEGUI.)

AIPTEX MZDV

The product arrived in two days.

This is one piece of junk camera and not even worth the price let along $10.00. When recording, the picture will jerk and smear across the screen if there is ANY movement. This is totally useless if you plan on using it on anything what will be moving...

Acceptable if you know what you're getting

This camera is one of several pretty-much identical units that are presumably based on some chip vendor's reference design. The primary features are SD/MMC card storage, video recording (with audio), voice recording, 5MP digital still camera function ...

Cheap. Reasonable as camcorder. Acceptable still image quality in strong light. Uses standard accessories.

Odd user interface. Proprietary movie file format. Poor low light performance.

Zoom in and Scream

Inexpensive, easy to operate, and has many features.

You will need a lot of light for video recording. Other minor issues.

I've been wanting a camcorder for some time now, the limitations of using a PC camera that is permanently connected to my computer severely hampers my creative vision, and when it comes to recording video away from my PC, it's all about mobility, hell...
