Canon Vixia HG2x review: Canon Vixia HG2x

The Canon Vixia HG20 is an excellent HD camcorder that's reasonably easy to operate out of the box and looks good, too. It's almost identical to the company's Vixia HF11 , but rather than recording mainly to internal flash memory, it records to a hard...

Excellent video quality; 60GB hard drive; attractive, understated design.

Wind filter not as dependable as previous Canon models; manual focus pretty useless.

Like its cousin, the flash-based HF11, Canon's Vixia HG20 delivers excellent HD video quality and performance albeit in a slightly larger, heavier package. However, you do get more storage space and a lower price.

Canon Vixia HG20 Camcorder Review

The Canon Vixia HG20 ($949 MSRP) is a worthy follow-up to last year's HG10. With a slight body redesign, a new paint job, and some improvements under the hood (including a 60GB internal hard drive), Canon is once again a leader in whatever camcorder...

HD Camcorders on a Budget: Vixia HG20

In this series, I'll review HD camcorders under $600, for those of us with a small budget and a need for quality. Here's my review of the Vixia HG20.

Canon HG20

The Canon HG20 ($949 MSRP) is an HD camcorder that records to an internal hard drive, replacing last year's HG10. In addition to a new black paint job to set them apart, the HG20 also has a 60GB hard drive (up from 40GB on the HG10), a few design...

The 60GB internal hard drive on the HG20 is its most prominent feature. It bulks up the camcorder's size (the HG20 is 30% larger than the HF11, which records to solid state memory), but it's capable of holding approximately 330 minutes of footage at...

Canon Vixia HG20 – Plenty of video quality options

Canon Vixia HG20 is a great HD camcorder that is really easy to use and the looks too are pretty good. It has a lot in common with Vixia HF11 also by the same manufacturer but instead of using a internal flash memory, this camcorder is hard drive...

Canon HG20

If camcorders were types of wine, the Canon range would be an exceptionally fine vintage preferred by foppish aristocrats and worldly connoisseurs. Ti...

Unsurpassed image sharpness, 60GB hard drive, lots of manual control

Slightly oversized, questionable build quality

The HG20 is an excellent high-def HDD camcorder that easily matches anything else on the market. Although the build quality could be better, its video performance more than makes up for any shortcomings. Highly recommended.

Canon HG20

With the option to record AVCHD video at 24Mbits/sec, Canon's HG20 puts in a great performance. Updated with video review.

Yet again, Canon has proven that it currently bestrides the camcorder market like a colossus. The HG20 is another strong contender. We wish it had a lens ring like the latest flagship models from Panasonic, and a regular-sized accessory shoe. But the...

Canon HG20

Canon's rapid ascent up the high-def, hard-disk camcorder totem pole continues with the HG20 and HG21 twins. Both share optical image stabilisation, 12x optical zoom and a CMOS sensor. The HG20 comes with a smaller 60GB hard-disk and misses out on a...
