JVC Everio GZ-MG27

Light and tiny; many hours of recording time.

Poor video quality; awkward control scheme; image stabilization is a joke; not for big hands.

The JVC GZ-MG27 is a nice idea, but its poor video quality and irritating control scheme make conventional camcorders a lot more appealing.

Back to Black and White era

Stay away from this model. Wait another two years until these companies figure this out. Seems like nobody makes a good harddrive based camcorder according to all the reviews online.

The harddrive based camcorder is the best idea single the USB flash stick design, but this model really kills that notion

Horrible video quality results in almost black and white imagery ; Nasty, crude, unfinished menus

Inferior picture quality

Very good feature set. HDD recording is a great concept. Size is perfect

I was surprised by the poor quality video. I tried many different options, lighting - even in daylight - it is not below par

JVC GZ-MG27 DV Camcorder

When you talk about a normal Camcorder, what comes to mind? To me, the most important thing I would be asking would be after recording effects and adjustable functions or special effects. Also, the zooming part, or focus.

Please note I bought this for my wife and her number one criteria was it must work in the stables where the lighting is poor - this was the only one I found with a wide aperture (at a price I was willing to pay!), and it does the job very well.

Down side for me when I use it is that there is no viewfinder, but that was a "price" worth paying to get the wide aperture.

easy to use video, camra shots a little more tricky.. Battery life with the standard one is OK, but better with a bigger long lift battery.. images are good , and for the price you would struggle to get better.

Standard battery poor

Being able to burn all that is recorded directly onto a DVD is great

Trying to find all the items in the menu was a bit difficult at first

The picture, build and sound quality are all excellent.

On the camera you can link together different scenes to make a simgle playback list, however the PC software which comes with the camera doesn't recognise these playback lists so you can't just choose to commit a single playback list to the PC, instead...
