JVC Everio GZ-MG275

JVC is something of a pioneer when it comes to hard disk-based camcorders, with nearly a two-year head start on the majority of its competitors. While...

Impressive video quality, user-friendly interface, SDHC/SD recording capabilities

10x optical zoom, a little pricey for a standard-definition camera

Despite being hampered by a weak optical zoom and questionable asking price, the GZ-MG275 is a solid HDD/SD camera that will satisfy all but the pickiest of users.

JVC GZ-MG275 review

Flying the flag for hard disk, has JVC come up with another crowd-pleaser?

Stylish looks ; Sturdy build ; 40GB storage

Lack of settings and features

The MG275 offers a compromise between a point-and-shoot and a more sophisticated cam. Imaging at the top settings is beyond reproach, and the undoubted convenience of the format will encourage many to shell out that little bit extra

JVC Everio GZ-MG275

The GZ-MG275 is a hard-disk based camcorder ideal for entry-level videographers, although its asking price might give some HD enthusiasts pause for thought.

Automated, shutter-style lens cap can't be lost ; Docking station makes connecting a snap ; Good quality video ; 40GB of storage space

Lacks viewfinder ; Zoom maxes out at 10x

The only other caveat we'd put on the MG275 is that consumer HD camcorders are fast tumbling in price, and the MG275 isn't an HD model. It's a good camera certainly, but if you're looking at a camera as a long-term investment, anything costing north of...

While other manufacturers have hedged their bets in the increasingly complex world of camcorder formats, JVC has stuck to its guns with the hard disk Everio and the range has gone from strength to strength

Simple, graphically pleasing interface, Plenty of practical, gimmick-free features

Poor Economy mode, Some handling noise

The MG275 offers a compromise between a point-and-shoot and a more sophisticated cam. Imaging at the top settings is beyond reproach, andthe undoubted convenience of the format will encourage many to shell out that little bit extra.

SimplyDV Review: JVC Everio GZ-MG275 HDD camcorder

Nice handling, great picture quality overall, excellent clip management and control of video and stills. Anti-G power-off could be life-saver! FireWire 1394 socket very useful, as is the dock.

JVC's Everio range continues to thrive in the face of DVD and HDD/Hybrid camcorders from the competition - and this model will find a market among users looking for good quality, ease of use and a higher degree of functionality.

JVC Everio GZ-MG275

Have this camcorder for half a year now and i'm really satisfied with it's performance but only on daytime. Got great picture and color quality. Hard-drive based video camera is the way to go if your looking for future-proof entry-level, home use camera.

Easy to use, light to carry and superb video quality both indoor and outdoor

Not high-definition level-yet. Low performance included battery and cheapy hand strap. Crappy night perfomance
