Sony Handycam HDR-SR5 review: Sony Handycam HDR-SR5

Neat face index feature; bundled dock.

No eye-level viewfinder; no wind filter; no USB port on camcorder, just on bundled dock; annoying touch-screen interface; cables not ubiquitous yet for mini-HDMI connector.

An uninspiring entrant in Sony's HD camcorder lineup, the Sony Handycam HDR-SR5's video quality and performance simply don't deliver for the price.

Sony HDR-SR5E

When high definition video first entered the marketplace, it was considered an exclusive luxury that only the rich and privileged could afford. Nowada...

Vibrant picture quality, decent stills mode, 40GB hard drive

AVCHD format incompatible with most DVD players

The Sony HDR-SR5E is an excellent HD HDD camera that offers great value for money. Simply put, it is one of the best models in this price range that we've seen.

Sony Handycam HDR-SR5

An uninspiring entrant in Sony's HD camcorder lineup. The Sony Handycam HDR-SR5's video quality and performance simply don't deliver for the price.

Neat Face Index feature ; Bundled dock

No eye-level viewfinder ; No wind filter ; No USB port on camcorder, just on bundled dock ; Annoying touch-screen interface ; Cables not ubiquitous yet for mini-HDMI connector

The Sony Handycam HDR-SR5 isn't a bad camcorder, but if you're going to spend the money for an HD model -- as well as endure the hassle of dealing with AVCHD video -- you might as well go for one with superior video. You'll have to spend a few hundred...

Crisp, clear shots and with the tape you get no "artifacts". ”

I have been shooting with this videocam for the past 2 years. It ALWAYS exceeds my expectations. The tapes allow you to have an archived version and eliminate artifacts when you are panning. Suprisingly, the sound is pretty good just with the camera,...

Good quality - some features difficult to use

This is a great camera with good quality picture and sound. But even though it claims to have the Super steady shot system, you can still tell the video is shaking a bit unless you set the camera down. Plus, if you want to use some features such as a...
