Thinkware X1000 review: An excellent dash cam, but you pay for it

Thinkware's dual-channel (front/rear) X1000 takes some of the best night captures we've seen. It also features a touch display and driver aids, but it's pricey for no GPS (optional) and ships only with hardwiring.

Fantastic front captures (especially night) ; Touch display ; Hardwiring kit ; Numerous driving assist features ; Optional radar

Fantastic front captures (especially night) ; Touch display ; Hardwiring kit ; Numerous driving assist features ; Optional radar

This two-channel (rear camera included) dash cam takes fantastic front video at night, and sports an easy-to-use touch display. But it’s pricey for a dash cam that lacks internal GPS.

Thinkware U1000 dash cam review

A professional-looking, hard-wired dash cam with 4K video, parking mode and an optional rear camera

4K video with HDR ; Loads of connected features ; Hard-wiring kit included ; Optional rear camera

12V cable not included ; Ideally requires professional installation ; Expensive

If you have a larger budget to spend, the Thinkware U1000 is a feature-packed dash cam that does it all, from 4K video with HDR, to parking mode, speed camera alerts, GPS and remote viewing via a smartphone app.

Thinkware U1000 review: awesome footage all the way

If you're after a dash cam that delivers crystal clear footage and comes packed with other features the Thinkware U1000 ticks all the right boxes.

4K video and HDR ; Supports hard-wiring ; Very decent app

Installation can be tricky ; Premium price tag

If you’re serious about having on-the-go video the Thinkware U1000 delivers crisp and clear 4K footage with the added benefit of HDR. It’s supplemented by an optional 2K rear facing lens too. Lots of practical features and functions add to the appeal,...
