Asus Zenfone 5Z review

Affordable ; Fast performance ; Classy design ; Good camera ; Loud dual speakers

Software isn’t too polished ; Derivative design ; No water resistance, wireless charging

The Asus Zenfone 5Z packs in a lot for the money. It’s fast and features a capable camera, but there are compromises lurking in the software.

Asus ZenFone 5Z

The Asus ZenFone 5Z is an unlocked phone with a slick 19:9 display, top-tier specs, and an AI-powered camera that could give the OnePlus 6 a run for its money.

Crisp 19:9 screen. Premium build. Fast performance. Sharp rear camera with wide angle lens.

Heavy UI layer. Several AI features don't really seem to be AI.

Asus ZenFone 5Z Smartphone — Hands-on and First Impressions

A Zen of a Phone. After a series of lackluster ZenFone sales, Asus launched the ZenFone 5Z in July this year to appeal to those who value flagship-grade performance at an affordable price. The ZenFone 5Z goes against the reigning flagship-killer...

Premium lightweight all-glass design with a high screen-to-body ratio ; Responsive fingerprint sensor and face unlock ; Noise-cancellation microphones and stereo speakers ; High quality DAC with DTS:X headphone support ; Bright Super IPS display with...

Fragile construction ; No IP rating ; No wireless charging ; No IR camera for low-light face unlock ; Front camera low-light performance needs improvement ; Poor low-light performance with the wide-angle lens ; Slow-motion capture capped at 240 fps ;...

The author has been using the Asus ZenFone 5Z as a daily driver for close to a month, and in this entire period there was not a single incident of mediocre performance offered up by the smartphone. Whether it is in synthetic benchmarks or real-world...

Asus ZenFone 5Z Review

Here we are looking at this sleeker, Snapdragon 845-toting, notch-screened device, and we have to say, we're ready to get to the nitty gritty. Can this $500 flagship compete in the upper echelon of the phone market?

Solid photo performance ; Vibrant display with deep, accurate colors ; Slick-looking, fast UI

No level of water resistance ; Relatively slow fingerprint sensor ; Camera can lean towards overexposing shots, sometimes losing details and obscuring colors

Asus ZenFone 5Z Review: The Next Great Android Bargain Is Here

It's a great time to be in the market for a new Android phone, and that's because of handsets like the Asus ZenFone 5Z.

Superfast performance ; Low price ; Long-lasting battery ; Decent cameras for the money

Software could use work ; Design is derivative ; Lacks water resistance and wireless charging ; Doesn't work on Sprint or Verizon

Asus has put together a formidable rival to the OnePlus 6 in the ZenFone 5Z. But a derivative design and clunky software keep it from being the best.

ZenFone 5Z: the cheapest way to get Snapdragon 845

The Asus ZenFone 5Z could be a really exciting insider tip! The new smartphone from the Taiwanese manufacturer is well-equipped, looks great and comes with top-of-the-line features, but costs considerably less than the competition. The sister model,...

At first sight, the Asus phones look promising. They look great, are well-equipped and have a very attractive price considering the software and performance. The Zenfone 5Z in particular has a lot of potential to become a hit. But, Asus could be making...

Asus Zenfone 5Z review

A value-for-money flagship phone

Crisp display ; Dual camera setup ; Wide angle secondary lens

Glass back ; Not particularly ergonomic

The Asus Zenfone 5Z is a value-for-money flagship phone, if there ever was one. It offers features that are at par with the OnePlus 6 and, to a certain extent, the Samsung S9 Plus, but at a cost that is much lower. It's fairly obvious that the Asus...

Asus ZenFone 5Z review: Surprisingly, beats the OnePlus 6 and is cheaper!

The ZenFone 5Z offers all the OnePlus can and more all at Rs 5,000 less.

Gets you a great display, expandable storage, wide-angle camera, dual speakers and some AI-smarts over the OnePlus 6... at a much lower price tag.

Wide-angle camera and minor software glitches need some work.

Asus has done a fantastic job with balancing the hardware, user experience and the price with the ZenFone 5Z.

Asus ZenFone 5Z review: Hands on with the Android smartphone with a notch

Asus boosts its smartphone lineup at MWC 2018 with the ZenFone 5Z, and it has an iPhone X-like notch

The ZenFone 5Z is a truly exceptional smartphone on first impressions. It’s just as well equipped as its flagship alternatives, sure, but it’s a good deal cheaper, too. Starting at just £500, the ZenFone 5Z undercuts both the Galaxy S9 (£739) and Sony...
