HTC Touch2 review: Beyond the basics

Affordable isn't the most common word in the HTC vocabulary but a company whose sole line of business is smartphones is not quite expected to speak the language of the masses. That said, we really need to define affordable first...

2.8" 65K-color QVGA display ; Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional OS with TouchFLO ; Qualcomm MSM7225 528MHz CPU and 256MB RAM ; Quad-band GSM support ; 3G with HSDPA 7.2Mbps ; Wi-Fi connectivity ; Built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS support ; Stereo FM radio...

Low-end display resolution ; Camera lacks auto focus, flash, geotagging or a dedicated camera key ; No accelerometer sensor ; Poor screen sunlight legibility ; Preloaded CoPilot Live navigation software is a trial version ; No secondary video-call...

But there's much a company needs to do to keep pace with an evolving market. HTC are busy updating their portfolio and the Touch2 is yet another in a growing line of sequels. Alright, it may be a small step for PocketPCs but a solid move for HTC in the...

HTC Touch2 (unlocked) review: HTC Touch2 (unlocked)

HTC Touch2 (unlocked)

The HTC Touch2 features a sleek design. Even as an entry-level device, it offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 3.2-megapixel camera. Windows Mobile 6.5 brings some nice improvements to the user interface.

The Touch2 doesn't support U.S. 3G. Screen is low resolution and there's no accelerometer.

With the design improvements and enhancements of Windows Mobile 6.5, the HTC Touch2 makes for a nice smartphone for first-time users. Unfortunately, it's not bound for the U.S. and may not be worth its unlocked price.

HTC Touch2 Windows Phone review

Windows Mobile 6.5 is arriving with a fanfare, and a number of high-end Windows Phones to demonstrate Microsoft's latest OS' flexibility. Not every device is a do-everything uber-phone, however; part of Windows Mobile's strength is that it also does...

HTC Touch2 Review

The HTC Touch2 is a compact and attractive phone running Windows Mobile 6.5. It is extremely snappy performer, because sports pretty much the same hardware components like the top of the range HTC Touch Diamond2, while its interface is simplified...

HTC Touch2 Smartphone Review

A decent phone that's held back by the limitations of its Windows mobile OS and a resistive touch screen.

As an entertainment device, the phone is a little more impressive. Audio quality on the Touch2 is quite good for a phone. The 3MP camera is a welcome addition to the phone but lacks zoom or a flash. It’s great for your basic photo shots though. The...

HTC Touch2 Review

One of the first smartphones to feature the latest version of Microsoft's operating system for mobile devices, Windows Mobile 6.5 – is a mid-budget Pocket PC that targets the mass market. The device had been rumored since the beginning of the year,...

I would enlist here the ergonomic design of the device, the powerful CPU, which has been included into a phone that is meant for the mass market. Also, I was surprised by the high quality of the music sound, which is really something new for a Windows...

Well, there aren't too many bad things that I feel I should mention here. Maybe a better camera would've raised the phone's desirability. While it's not that bad, the new operating system still doesn't make me want to buy the phone. Sales Package HTC...

A successor in every right, the HTC Touch2 is built with the latest TouchFlo interface and powered by the all-new Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5.

HTC Touch2

The HTC Touch2 runs Windows Mobile 6.5 and has a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen. There's also WiFi b/g, Bluetooth plus A2DP support, a 3.2-megapixel fixed-focus camera and a standard 3.5mm headset jack. Also onboard is Exchange support and the latest build...

Comes with essential apps preinstalled; TouchFlo interface; solid and easy to carry around

No autofocus, flash or dedicated camera key; no handwriting recognition and poor legibility under bright sunlight

Another plus point is that it is also cheaper than competing models.

HTC Touch2 review

A good handset with a huge list of features. Don't expect it to be an iPhone-beater, though

Ingenious work by HTC ; Very good battery life ; Loads of features

TouchFLO isn't ubiquitous ; Dodgy camera ; Looks dull
