LG G8X ThinQ review: More screens aren't always better

As a standalone flagship phone, LG's new G8X ThinQ doesn't stand out -- it's perfectly adequate. Attach its Dual Screen case, though, and things suddenly get more interesting. Combined, these devices offer a taste of the multi-screen life other...

Relatively inexpensive for a multi-screen device ; Dual screens can be good for multitasking ; Plenty of horsepower

Promo deals might not last forever ; Dual-screen experience is rough around the edges ; Cameras can’t beat the competition ; Magnetic charging adapter isn’t stable

LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen review

Don't call the LG G8X ThinQ a folding smartphone. It's not one of those mega-expensive devices, and it actually has three screens and not two. What is it, then? It's a quirky device for serious multi-tasking. However, like folding smartphones, you're...

Dual Screen case is unusual ; Some genuine multi-tasking benefits ; Well-priced ; Tough, water resistant body

The folding LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen phone is a quirky multi-tasking monster

LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen

The LG G8X ThinQ is a solid smartphone on its own, but when paired with the Dual Screen cover, it quickly becomes cumbersome and buggy.

Solid performance. Great audio features. Excellent camera quality.

Poor battery life with Dual Screen cover. Cover is bulky and makes the phone difficult to hold. Fingerprint sensor works poorly.

On its own, the LG G8X ThinQ is a solid phone for the price, with good performance, battery life, and camera quality. The Dual Screen attachment makes it large and unwieldy, drains the battery fast, and introduces bugs you don't encounter when using...

LG G8X Dual Screen review: better than you might ThinQ

Are two flat screens better than one foldable?

Awesome for multitasking ; Good battery life ; Headphone jack

Unremarkable as a regular phone ; Software is half-baked ; Haptics are bad

But that’s because I don’t know if you, the reader, are someone who would have any use for a wacky dual-screen wallet case. If you know that you are, I think you’ll enjoy the LG G8X.

LG G8X ThinQ review: Finally, a second screen that’s actually kind of useful

The LG G8X isn't just a phone, it's a concept that fulfills LG's longtime dream of building a phone with two screens. And it kind of works.

The Dual Screen is truly an excellent productivity tool ; Battery life is excellent when used solo ; Affordable way to get in on the folding phone trend

Design, display, and camera are unremarkable ; Dual Screen case is cumbersome and heavy ; Dual displays are largely separate with little actual multitasking

On its own, the G8X is hard to recommend, even at its perennially discounted $700 price tag. But add in the Dual Screen case, which is bundled with the phone no matter where you buy it, and you've got something far more interesting than similarly...

LG G8X ThinQ Review – Dual Screen Android is unexpected fun

Not all foldable phones have a crease down the center of the display: some of them, like the LG G8X ThinQ and its LG Dual Screen accessory, have a hinge instead. The South Korean phone-maker's second attempt at a twin-display Android smartphone is also...

Aggressively priced for a dual-screen device ; LG Dual Screen accessory is bundled with the phone ; Solid specs and battery life for a 2019 Android phone ; Legitimately useful dual-screen functionality ; Both a headphone jack and microSD slot included

Bulky with LG Dual Screen attached ; Some apps don't play nicely with the second screen ; Fingerprint sensor can be finicky

LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen review: Dual screens for increased productivity

Our LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen review takes a look at one option which adds a very useful second screen to your phone.

Dual Screen offers increased productivity ; Great battery life for two screens ; Decent performance ; 3.5mm audio jack ; Reasonably priced

FHD+ screen ; Camera takes awhile to focus, quality hit and miss ; Dual Screen has full glass front ; No IP rating

LG G8X and Dual Screen Review

The LG G8X is a potential alternative to the foldable smartphones of today. It costs just $700, and with its DualScreen accessory, it provides more screen space than you've ever been able to put in your pocket.

Great battery life; Loud stereo speakers; Good-looking display; Reasonably priced

Dual Screen case is frustrating to use and mostly unnecessary; Slow fingerprint reader with no biometric alternative; Software still a bit buggy (as reviewed, build number PKQ1.190522.001)

LG G8 ThinQ review: generic flagship, stellar audio

Back in 2017 I wrote “LG has a problem.” I was reviewing the company's G6 flagship -- a great phone overshadowed by the marketing might of the Samsungs, Huaweis, and Apples of the world. Fast Back in 2017 I wrote “LG has a problem.” I was reviewing the...

Premium materials and build quality ; Strong performance ; Beautiful display ; Feature-packed camera ; Headphone jack with stellar audio ; Wireless charging ; IP rated

Generic design ; No notification light ; Middling battery life ; Unreliable palm recognition and hover gestures ; Skinned Android ; All the bloatware

Giimmicks are not a good way to stand out

LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen, long-term test: Two screens good, but beware bulk and battery life | ZDNet

The LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen is an interesting and affordable alternative to a folding-screen handset, but it does have some significant drawbacks.
