Nokia C5 review: Smart and trusty

If you are on the hunt for a stylish smartphone but you run a tight budget, chances are the Nokia C5 is on your radar already. The compact Symbian-running handset looks well, costs little and can give you all the smart you need in a phone...

Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support ; Dual-band 3G (900/2100) with 10Mbps HSDPA and 2Mbps HSUPA ; Neat and well built, metal on the body ; 2.2" 16M-color QVGA display, excellent sunlight legibility ; Symbian OS, S60 3.2 user interface ; ARM11 600 MHz CPU,...

No WLAN ; Small screen ; No accelerometer (hence no auto screen rotation) ; Fiddly memory card slot ; Document viewer doesn't support editing

Even more so if you need your mobile phone to do voice-guided navigation. The Nokia C5 comes with a lifetime license that costs exactly zilch. Now, isn’t this one of the handsets to claim the best bang for your buck on the market? As always there’re...

Nokia C5

We understand that "C" is the designation for Nokia's "core range", and the number indicates whereabouts in the range the handset fits on a scale of 1 to 9. So, the C5 fits pretty much exactly in the middle of the range. All very simple, but we can't...

Nokia C5 - HardwareZone.com

The Nokia C5 offers basic smartphone features in a simpler and down-to-earth form factor with an attractive price point as an entry-level device.

Nokia C5 smartphone

The Nokia C5 mobile phone is a mid-range handset with access to Nokia's Ovi application store

Solid build quality and nice design, will be relatively inexpensive, easy and straightforward to use, Facebook integration through contacts, access to Ovi Store and Ovi Maps, excellent numeric keypad

Nothing exciting or innovative, slightly loose battery cover, poor camera

The Nokia C5 won't get you excited, but if you're after a relatively inexpensive smartphone and aren't interested in touchscreens then it may be worth a look.

Nokia C5

A classic candybar phone from the masters.

A volume rocker sits above this, and a 3.2 megapixel camera with an LED flash can be found on the back. There's no dedicated camera button on the left edge, but it's not much of an inconvenience to reach for the central D-pad button to take a shot....

Nokia C5 review

Nokia's semi-smart candybar leaves a sweet taste

Good access to Ovi Store ; Ovi Maps an excellent addition ; Decent build quality ; Familiar interface

No Wi-Fi ; Screen too lo-res for Apps ; Media player practically non-existent

We've now published our review of the updated touchscreen version of this phone, the Nokia C5-03, so check it out if you're into a bigger screen and fewer keys.
