Nokia Lumia 830 review

The Lumia 830 is a great Windows Phone at a reasonable price.

At $100 on a two-year contract with AT&T, or $450 outright, you don’t necessarily have to break the bank to go in on this one. The Lumia 830 is a solid middle-of-the-road Windows Phone.

Nokia Lumia 830 review: Shining bright

Nokia Lumia 830 is probably the last smartphone to wear the iconic Nokia logo, five letters with so much history behind. And while it might not be a model as iconic as the original 808 PureView or the Lumia 1020, the Nokia Lumia 830 is destined to go...

5" ClearBlack IPS display of 720p resolution, Gorilla Glass 3 ; 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU, Adreno 305 GPU, Snapdragon 400 chipset, 1GB of RAM ; Windows Phone 8.1 OS Update 1 with Lumia Denim ; 10MP PureView camera with 1080p@30fps video...

Snapdragon 400 chipset is somewhat dated now ; No headset included in the box (neither in Europe, nor in the US)

It's time to say farewell to the Nokia branding. Microsoft has already announced its first smartphone not to wear the Finnish logo - the Microsoft Lumia 535. And for the first time ever in GSMArena's history, Nokia's brand no longer occupies the top...

Lumia 830 review: bringing the Icon down to the mid-range

The Lumia 830 strikes a good balance with its premium aluminum frame and mid-range internals. Those looking for a solid camera experience at this price range should take a good look.

Solid aluminum frame ; Impressive, image-stabilized rear camera ; Good everyday performance

Struggles in some games ; Merely average front camera ; Quirky white balance (though pending updates may improve things)

In the end, the Lumia 830 is clearly a "bridge" device. It's got the high-end looks and capable camera of flagship-level phones, along with the performance and display resolution of mid-range and budget models. Whether Microsoft Mobile made the right...

Nokia Lumia 830 (AT&T)

The Nokia Lumia 830 is a middling phone that's outmatched by a range of other options on AT&T.

Excellent voice quality. Good size and build.

Underpowered compared with the competition. Disappointing battery life.

Comparisons and Conclusions Here's where things get weird: The Nokia Lumia 1020 is currently at a fire-sale price of $49 from both AT&T and the official Microsoft Store. The Lumia 1020 has a better camera, more storage, and similar performance for $50...

Affable, affordable Lumia 830 ties a bow on Nokia's mobile brand (review)

If "affordable flagship" sounds like an oxymoron to you, you haven't met the Lumia 830. It's a fine ending for the former Finnish phone-maker.

Smart-looking with satisfying mid-range power, the Lumia 830 packs in more features than you'd expect at this price range, including the impressive PureView camera.

A 720p screen seems a little disappointing on anything with the title 'flagship'. Windows, as always, suffers when it comes to your choice of apps in the marketplace.

A great example of a Windows-based smartphone and a killer option for what it costs, although there's still not quite enough going on with Windows Phone to pull people away from Android or iOS.

Nokia Lumia 830 ( black)

As far as legacy is concerned, there are worse notes to end on. The Lumia 830 is pitched as "the affordable flagship" and it's hard to argue with that. A good combination of solid design, a well-rounded feature set, the 10-megapixel PureView camera and...

Microsoft Nokia Lumia 830 review: A midrange phone with few regrets

Microsoft correctly labels the Nokia Lumia 830 as an "affordable flagship," with an appealing mix of performance, features, and price. And the phone will improve somewhat once Microsoft pushes the Lumia Camera app to the phone.

Thin, relatively light, but with a solid feel ; Phone's photo-taking abilities will improve with Lumia Camera app ; Solid performance for the price

Camera currently struggles in low light ; Hey Cortana!" active listening won't be supported ; Still lags behind iOS, Android in quality apps

Nokia Lumia 830 Review

The Lumia 830 was launched by Microsoft at the IFA trade show in September. As seems to be the norm for most Nokia phones, it has taken a short while for announced phones to be generally available, but the Lumia 830 can now be found in many markets....

If you are looking for a midrange Windows Phone today though, the Lumia 830 is certainly one you want to check out.

Nokia Lumia 830 Smartphone Review

Farewell Nokia. Microsoft promises customers an affordable flagship smartphone with the Lumia 830. However, the technical specs position the device in the mid-range. A small quad-core and a screen with a low HD resolution is simply not premium range....

High-quality materials and decent build, Good Wi-Fi range, Removable battery, Expandable storage, Decent camera, Wireless recharging, Good GPS receiver, Decent battery life, Miracast and DLNA, Useful, preloaded software, Bright screen with high color...

that however has an increased black level, Strong IPS glow in flat viewing angles, Sluggish SoC, No ac Wi-Fi, No Cortana in Europe, Inferior speaker

Nokia's Lumia 830 sets sail under the old flag one last time. The design strongly resembles that of the Lumia 930, and pleases with high-quality materials and an excellent build. This impression stretches over every detail. For example, both the SIM...
