Galaxy K Zoom review: Samsung's best cameraphone yet

Samsung is on a mission to build the perfect cameraphone. Low-quality fixed lenses and tiny smartphone sensors are clearly insufficient for photography enthus...

Samsung has yet to announce US pricing and availability for the K Zoom, but it's now available in Europe and select countries in Asia. In the UK, the phone is priced at £400, while elsewhere in Europe it can be had for €499. Considering both of those...

Samsung Galaxy K Zoom review

Smartphone cameras have come on in leaps and bounds. Gone are the days of blurry, low-resolution shots of your dog -- phones are now able to capture shots that you'd struggle to tell weren't taken on a dSLR.

The Samsung Galaxy K Zoom's impressive 10x optical zoom gets you up close with your subject without losing image quality. It has plenty of power for most tasks and it has the latest Android software too.

It's bulky and heavy, making it awkward for everyday use, while its overall image quality doesn't particularly impress and it has a disappointingly low resolution display.

If you absolutely must have a phone with an optical zoom, the K Zoom is basically your only option. It's bulky though, and the pictures it takes aren't any better than the Galaxy S5's. You'll be far better off with a cheap Android phone and a decent...

Samsung 12-24mm f/4-5.6 ED Wide-Angle Zoom

The Samsung 12-24mm f/4-5.6 ED Wide-Angle Zoom ($599 list) is a lens that produces an ultra-wide field of view when used with the APS-C sensor found in Samsung NX cameras. While it can exhibit rectilinear distortion in certain shooting situations, it's...

Incredibly sharp. Compact. Ultra-wide field of view. Close focus capability

Slow aperture at maximum zoom. Some rectilinear distortion

The 12-24mm f/4-5.6 ED Wide-Angle Zoom lens for the Samsung NX camera system is incredibly sharp, offers an ultra-wide field of view, and easily earns our Editors' Choice award thanks to its image quality, size, and value.

Hands-on: Samsung Galaxy K Zoom review - Pocket-lint

Samsung has dabbled with the smartphone/compact camera angle before, most recently with the Galaxy S4 Zoom, but it's so confident in market expansion that

Samsung Galaxy K Zoom review

Samsung's shot at the ultimate cameraphone is off the mark

10x optical zoom ; Decent battery life ; Powerful innards

Feels overpriced ; Extra size and weight ; Low-res screen

The Samsung Galaxy K Zoom certainly has its strengths, but ultimately neither the phone nor the camera are distinctive enough to appeal to the masses.

Samsung Galaxy K Zoom is half phone, half camera, not brilliant at either

Samsung Galaxy K Zoom review: Camera phone decoded

The Samsung Galaxy K Zoom is not something that I would automatically reject. The camera works well, but the rest of the phone isn't too impressive

The Samsung Galaxy K Zoom is not something that I would automatically reject. The camera works well, but the rest of the phone isn’t too impressive. It is pretty cool when it comes to general camera performance and you can also use it as a phone. But...

Samsung Galaxy K Zoom review

Smartphone cameras are ever improving, but they lack one crucial feature: a zoom. Not so with the Galaxy K Zoom. This Android smartphone has a built-in 10x zoom lens. Find out if this unusual marriage is successful in our Samsung Galaxy K Zoom review.

By no means the perfect combination of a smartphone and zoom lens, the K Zoom isn’t half bad. It’s capable of great photos and videos in the right conditions. This isn’t a device for everyone, but if the “zoom camera with a built-in smartphone” concept...

I bought this camera and i would like to say that when you zoom all the way the picture looks real clear . But I was told that the 5x or more is always better for zooming in. For instance you buy a camera with 12.2 mp with 5x or more zoom, you will...
