Samsung I9000 Galaxy S vs. Apple iPhone 4: Collision course

It's not like you're out of options. Here's one. Another one would be to get a friend's iPhone 4 and another friend's Galaxy S, put them on a table, close your eyes and… tell your friends to bugger off. Or you can do it the old-fashioned way. Flip a what?

Samsung I9000 Galaxy S review: From outer space

Our homepage is the natural home of the deadliest smartphone carnivores. We normally don't mind but this time is different. Are we about to start feeling a wee bit nervous or what. It's a beast that tops the food chain, instilling fear and terror...

Quad-band GSM and tri-band 3G support ; 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA support ; 4" 16M-color Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) resolution ; Android OS v2.1 with TouchWiz 3.0 UI customization ; 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird...

No Flash support for the web browser ; No flash for the camera ; No dedicated camera key ; The all-plastic body is a real fingerprint magnet ; Feeble loudspeaker

The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S has so much muscle that trying to impose your will with brute force is pointless. No sir, this creature needs to be befriended, patted on the back until it starts to trust you. But once it lets you jump on its back it will...

Review: Samsung Galaxy S 4G

With mobile handsets stuck in a pattern of incremental updates, at least Samsung's Galaxy S 4G is an example of baby steps done right.

Stronger iteration of a solid design. Mostly smooth navigation thanks to a humming 1-GHz processor. Great call quality. Awesome battery life and power management. Gorgeous high-def 720p video (in well-lit environments). Ready for downloads and app-tion...

Accessing the movie storefront requires a tedious login process. Bloatware aplenty. Where’s my HDMI out? HSPA+ service is fantastically fast (where available). 4G to 3G to EDGE handoffs are often slow. White backgrounds often produce the dreaded...

Samsung Galaxy S 4G (T-Mobile)

The Samsung Galaxy S 4G is a refinement of the popular Vibrant on T-Mobile to include 4G capability, Android 2.2, and a front-facing VGA camera.

Slim design. Gorgeous screen. Very fast 4G HSPA+ data speeds. Excellent music and video. Solid battery life.

Buggy TV app. Only a modest refresh over the Vibrant.

Samsung's TouchWiz UI layer also looks a little different, but it's never been much of a draw. The phone features seven customizable home screens you can swipe between, plus colorful little boxes around all of the menu icons. Scrolling is fast and...

Samsung Galaxy S 4G

As a part of its aggressive 4G plans, T-Mobile launched a 4G version of the popular Samsung Galaxy S phones. But unfortunately, the Galaxy S 4G ($200 with a two-year contract from T-Mobile; price as of 3/1/11) does not have the specs of the hot...

HSPA+ is fast ; Gorgeous Super AMOLED display ; Attractive design

No camera flash ; 4G connectivity is hit-or-miss

The Samsung Galaxy S 4G is a solid, powerful phone, but it doesn't have the specs to compete with the next generation of smartphones.

Samsung Vibrant (T-Mobile)

Android's original wireless carrier finally gets an Android super-phone to call its own.

Fast. 1-GHz processor handles graphics well. Bright screen. PC syncing options. Great photos and videos. Free, full copy of Sims 3 included.

Media store not ready yet. No voice dialing over Bluetooth. No tethering.

Camera and Conclusions I found the Vibrant's flashless, 5-megapixel camera takes even better photos than the Captivate's, even though the two use the same sensor. Perhaps the different back cover plays a role, with slightly different plastic over the...

Samsung Galaxy S 4G Review

Last summer was a watershed moment for Android. The HTC EVO 4G, Motorola DROID X and Samsung Galaxy S lineup dominated the cellular landscape and rightfully so. The Samsung Vibrant was the Galaxy S variant for T-Mobile and was the first Galaxy S phone...

Samsung GALAXY S I9000 Review

The Samsung GALAXY S I9000 comes with a huge 4” Super AMOLED display, significantly larger than the only other such screen on the market – the 3.3” one of the Samsung Wave. This gorgeous window to the phone's soul is hinged to another novelty from...
