Sony Ericsson W380

The Sony Ericsson W380 is an edgy clamshell. No, I'm not talking attitude. It actually has real edges, which is a departure from the most clamshells. The W380 is the mid-range “Walkman” logoed model of a three model collection produced by Sony...

Sony Ericsson W380i Review

Sony Ericsson W380i is a low mid-level ranged clamshell, which introduces new features into the handset market. Besides the external touch music controls that seem to take advantage of the 'haptic feedback' technology, the clamshell also features...

Besides its design, W380i clamshell offers exactly what a Walkman series phone should offer - an excellent multimedia experience. If you are a music lover and cannot afford a much better device, then this is the right choice for you. If you intend to...

Most of Sony Ericsson's fans are complaining about the low camera module, but I wouldn't put it this way. First of all, it's obvious that this camera has been included for a totally different reason: Gesture control. Yes, you have a Walkman series...

Sony Ericsson W380i review

The Sony Ericsson W380i comes in a small, square box, together with several accessories. You will find a USB cable and PC Suite software to transfer files to the computer. The included headset consists of two parts that have to be connected. The part...

Sony Ericsson W380i

Sony Ericsson W380i Walkman phone combines a unique clamshell design. The phone packs in never-seen before features, including Gesture control which allows users to mute calls with a wave of their hands.

Apart from that I would recommend the W380i, either as a first handset for a child, or a handset for those looking for simplicity with a punch, or those who are just looking for something stylish to compliment their main handset.

Sony Ericsson W380i

An entry-level handset aimed largely at people after a pre-paid phone, Sony Ericsson's W380i is a stylish flip handset featuring touch-sensitive music...

Design, gesture control, touch-sensitive music controls, M2 card slot

No 3G, no outstanding features, external display is hazy, mediocre camera

As long as you don’t require 3G connectivity, this is a fair entry-level handset with excellent music capabilities. There aren't any real outstanding features but the W380i remains a solid performer.

Sony Ericsson W380i

With some fancy input controls and a 'hidden' display, does Sony Ericsson's W380i live up to the Walkman brand?

I've already mentioned that I am not a fan of the angular look of this phone. Its size also reduces its appeal for me. The 100g of weight is no problem at all. But this phone is big. With the clam closed it measures 92mm tall, 49mm wide and 16mm thick....

Sony Ericsson W380i Walkman review

A bargain mobile phone without the cut corners

High quality music player ; Budget price ; Distinctive design ; 'Concealed' front panel OLED display and music player buttons ; 512B M2 memory card and decent earphones supplied

Basic 1.3-megapixel camera ; No flash or autofocus for camera ; No video capture facilities ; Music buttons need firm pressing ; No 3G ; Poor loudspeaker quality

If you can look past the basic camera and lack of 3G, this is a fantastic, well-featured phone at a very competitive price

Sony Ericsson W380i mobile phone

Another day, another Walkman handset, so why does Sony Ericsson believe the W380i is the handset to own? We make some calls to find out. As a basic Walkman handset the W380 throws no punches and therefore is unlikely to offend.

Braille playback keys, simple

1.3-megapixel camera, gesture control pointless

Sony Ericsson W380i

Affordable. Sound quality. Stereo Bluetooth. Sturdy build.

1.3-megapixel camera. Gesture control is a gimmick. Slow interface. Speaker is disappointing.

Sony Ericsson's W380i is pretty much an MP3 player wrapped around a mobile phone — and a pretty darned good MP3 player at that.
