Sony Xperia 5 III review: The ‘weird Sony’ compact flagship

A Sony phone for better and for worse

Powerful Snapdragon 888 chip ; Solid battery life ; Gorgeous 21:9 display ; Strong cameras...

...but pro camera apps are not easy to use ; Gets very hot, very fast ; No wireless charging ; Not much improvement over the Xperia 5 II

Sony Xperia 5 III review: a flawed diamond

Тhe Xperia 5 III is a technology masterpiece. It's pretty, fast, and comes packed full of features. However, small hiccups here and there spoil the flagship experience promised by the hefty price of the Xperia 5 III.

Stylish design and premium build quality ; 6.1-inch 120Hz FHD+ OLED screen, free of eyesores ; Snappy performance, clean Android ; Awesome camera system with powerful software underneath ; MicroSD card slot, 3.5mm audio jack, notification LED, stereo...

Expensive ; Gets hot under pressure ; Fast charging is not that fast ; No wireless charging ; Fingerprint reader is a mess ; Annoying issues across the board

Sony Xperia 5 III Review – When Small Doesn’t Mean Less

Need a smartphone with flagship-caliber hardware but more compact? Check out our Sony Xperia 5 III review and see if this is the one for you.

+ Excellent battery life ; + Good performance with Snapdragon 888 ; + Colourful, punchy display with 120Hz refresh rate ; + Stereo speakers ; + Good overall camera system with robust control options ; + No notch ; + Compact and easy to use with one...

- 21:9 aspect ratio is still a bit awkward to use ; - Thicker bezels on top and bottom ; - Speakers sound a little tinny ; - Massive fingerprint magnet ; - No adaptive refresh rate ; - Pricey

The Sony Xperia 5 III is not perfect but even though options for a compact flagship smartphone is few and far in between, going for this doesn't mean you're settling for less as this can serve you well.

Sony Xperia 5 III review

Four focal lengths and sleek styling make the Sony Xperia 5 III a unique, compact camera champ

Prosumer Sony camera UI ; Super compact size ; Four optical focal lengths

Screen could be brighter ; Gets hot when gaming or tethering ; No wireless charging

Sony photography fans will appreciate its software, with many of the Alpha experiences found on the Xperia Pro-I onboard too. Matched with the phone’s natural image processing just in a more compact form, while it isn’t perfect – the screen could be...

TEST: Sony Xperia 5 III | An Unfaithful Copy - Lidt Mindre Og Lidt Dårligere Sony Xperia 5 III

Sony Xperia 5 III is one of the few compact smartphones in the premium class on the market. It's excellent, but not as good as its big brother from the Xperia 1 series.

Excellent camera phone for semi-professionals. In addition, OLED screen in 21: 9 format with 120 Hz refresh rate. In addition, compact format and dedicated camera button.

The camera has exposure issues in certain situations. The phone gets extremely hot if pressed, and then it lacks wireless charging. The sound in the built-in speakers is not too good either.

We wrote at the top that the accounts do not fall out in favor of the Sony Xperia 5 III, even though the price has been lowered by a third compared to the flagship model.

Sony Xperia 5 III Review | Trusted Reviews

The Xperia 5 III is the brother to Sony's even more expensive Xperia 1 III. However, its price makes it more akin to some of the best phones.

Reliable rear camera ; Well laid out Pro camera app ; Decent battery life

Screen’s atypical aspect ration causes some apps to look weird ; A little expensive
