used to love it but.......

don't forget to buy a additional battery for the base station. when i first got this phone i really loved it but IT did not hold up to the potential of a great phone it could of been

styling all the tech stuff it does saw this model featured in a lot of primetime shows

poor battery life (3-4 days lifespan) frequently had to recharge phone bought two (2) new replacement from Vtech same deal poor performance actually contacted Vtech about the poor battery life sometime has issue finding base at times got so fed up with...

Vtech i5871 5.8 GHz Digital 1X Handsets Cordless Phone Integrated Answering Machine

Excellent style, Size and Weight. Above average speaker phone. Easy setup. NIce color display. PC interface was easy to use and set up. Clear voice and ringer

Below average range for my home and the main reason I returned it. I have a one story 4000 sf home and it would not cover my home end to end. Not acceptable with today's technology

A Cool But Quirky System

I bought this answering machine and several satellite receivers. If you're looking to downsize your home or office phone system, this is a great choice. The size, look, and sound of this phone are all first rate. Being able to program ringtones --...

Sleek, rugged design. Good audio quality. Easy to save phone numbers

Phone numbers and photos use USB, but ringtones use audio. Switching to speaker phone during a call without squeal is an art form

Sad Santa

Why is it so hard to get this right? A couple of beta testers could have come back with my observations and had the QA build an AWESOME phone. Instead we have what feels like step in evolution while leaving me longing for a 2008 model. Very sad Santa.

Design ; Sexy phone that is sure to give you bragging rights

Execution ; 1. Caller ID does not work reliably. I have two units and they both have this problem. My other manufacturer phones work fine. Without reliable Caller ID, what is the point of having a high end picture phone. Poor quality control for a high...

Excellent Phone

A very superior phone system. With the ability to add up to 8 additional handsets, there is no need to use any other phone in the house.

Solid built telephone system. Not the case with earlier models from Vtech. Stylish design. 5.8Ghz... Crystal Clear Sound

Dialing from the basestation is a tedious chore due to no keypad on base. You can only dial numbers from the call log

First impressions

Overall a good phone. Lots of options/features. The main reason I'm keeping it is it gets along with my wireless LAN.

I like the picture associated with the caller id ; Does not interfere with my wireless LAN like my 5.8mhz Uniden did ; Speakerphone option is nice, and it's really nice to have that on the handset

Handset is small, feels more like a remote control than a phone. Not very comfortable to hold to your ear ; Not a lot of memory and too many images are locked! Why can't I delete them

Vtech i5871 and i5808 expansion handset

We got the 5871 base and 4 5808 handsets for a total of 5 handsets (8 max) and are very happy with our choice. Get an extra handset battery and install into the base of the base unit and the complete system will work during a power failure for a couple...

Good/fantastic looking unit that stores the handset vertical which saves space. Full length handset which places the microphone where it should be, only base unit needs to connect to phone jack, others can be freely located wherever convenient. Audio...

1) As with most other phones and cell phones, when you use the phone book upload facility from your (Windows) computer, it does not merge, only replaces. 2) And ring tones and pictures that you associate with inbound calls have those associations...

Battery and charger are junk

I bought this accessory handset in April 2007 for $75. BTW I never use this handset it just sits there. The battery doesn't hold a charge anymore. Probably been a problem a few months ago, but I don't know, like I said I never use it. The charger is ...

Vtech i5871 5.8 GHz 1-Line Cordless Phone

The Vtech i5871 is by far the worst phone I've purchased in my life. I made the mistake of being sucked in by all the bells a whistles, like assigning pictures to phone numbers, personal ringtones, etc. I've purchased Vtech before and havent had any ...

personal ringtones, pictures for callers, huge caller id list, full color lcd screen

This phone fails to provide the basic functions of of a phone
