Acer Nitro 50

Acer's Nitro 50 is a no-fuss, basic gaming desktop with modest power for 60fps HD gaming that doesn't cost a fortune.

Small, compact tower. Reliable gaming performance for 1080p play. Intel Optane Memory with 1TB hard drive.

Cramped interior. Only 8GB memory in test model. Would prefer a true SSD plus a hard drive.

Bottom Line: Acer's Nitro 50 is a no-fuss, basic gaming desktop with modest power for 60fps HD gaming that doesn't cost a fortune.

Acer Nitro 50 review: Buy the Palicomp i5 Cosmos instead

A competent desktop system with a high-end CPU and some handy extras, but better value is to be found elsewhere

Compact design ; Well-suited to multitasking ; Good connectivity

Palicomp i5 Cosmos offers more for less ; Mixed gaming performance ; Not much scope for future customisation

Still, this is a potent enough PC that (even with Dirt: Showdown misbehaving) can run games up to 1440p without much trouble, so it could be a good fit for anyone who’d prefer a more compact desktop.

Acer Nitro 50 Desktop Review: Budget Gaming With Compromises

The whole point of Acer's Nitro series is that it offers gaming on the cheap. And the Nitro 50 desktop ($799.99 to start, $1,199.99 as tested) does hit a sweet spot, including our review unit, a VR-ready desktop just over $1,000. But while the Nitro is...

The Acer Nitro 50 is an affordable gaming desktop with the latest ports like USB Type-C, but it offers mixed performance and is filled to the brim with bloatware.
