Power supply failed at 13 months

 

I purchase a lot of computers for friends, relatives, small businesses that I consult for, and for my own large family (we have 9 computers in our home now). I will probably not again consider a Gateway machine.

Machine basically did what it needed to do

Memory issues plagued this machine -- it never seemed able to utilize all the available 8GB of memory, especially in Java applications ; Power supply failed at 13 month mark. Very disappointed, just off warranty

It works at least

 

Runs very quickly as do to the 8gbs of ram and the quad core processor. Very nice for lower gaming and other such uses

However, it is difficult to upgrade the video card because the 300w power supply does not have a PSI 3.0 cable, and the 12 pin motherboard connector instead of the common 24 or 20 pin doesn't allow a new, higher wattage psu

we used this for a new autocad station. had to downgrade the software operating system to XP Pro due to software limitations. Wiped the drive and installed clean XP. The computer blows through autocad effortlessly, loads files quickly and the onboard...

fast chip, fast onboard video, works well, inexpensive for this level of performance (under $450), nice touch with lighting, and ability to turn it off

Sounds like an excellent deal for an "everyday" desktop, but getting a complete technical description has been like pulling teeth. The technology of the MB may be little outdated as evidenced by the multiple USB 2.0 connectors and only 2 USB 3.0...

This may be the inexpensive quad core i5 I have been waiting for but the device description is limited. Too much info about how pretty the case is, and no information about expansion slots, audio capabilities, and ability of 300 w PS to handle...

Buy a better computer from a different manufacturer.

Bought two of these. One works ok the other would not boot. Newegg had no stock so I send it in for repair. Repair instructions stress the packing for the computer. Had to pay for shipping and the computer had not workied. Received the computer back...

I don't know what all the fuss about Windows 8 is about. I was dreading making the transition to the new OS, but I am finding it much easier to navigate than I had expected.

Day 2 with this machine, and I am impressed. Runs stable with graphically intensive processes (i.e. videoconferencing from home) and easy setup. I had this system up and running and ready to go in an hour (including driver downloads). This box didn't...

I will swap out the power supply to at least 550 down the line so I can add a video card and additional RAM. But otherwise, I expect this will suit my needs just fine

Would not power up. Hit power switch repeatedly, and will not power up at all. Changed power cords and same result. Appears to be a bad power supply. Had to RMA to Newegg
