Intel NUC5i5RYK Review: A Broadwell-U UCFF PC for Enthusiasts

The Intel NUC category has been an interesting product line to analyze, as it provides us with insights into where the traditional casual / home use desktop market might end up. UCFF (ultra-compact form factor) PCs have had an excellent reception in...

The final aspect we talk about today is the pricing. The NUC5i5RYK seems to be available for $376 on

Great product in a small factor, but know its limitations

To conclude, this unit I am keeping for any clients who need a very powerful workstation, or any other users who do not do anything except VERY LIGHT gaming. This unit gets way too hot for even older games (AOE III, AOM, Sims 3, Rome Total War). Now I...

First of all, I religiously look at reviews for products like this, as for many it is a big purchase and there are a lot of choices (brix, nuc, etc.) so I feel very inclined to write one myself. I am writing this review past the hype or dumb (in my...

Con's: (Horrible for: Entry-Mid Level Gaming (I occasionally play games maybe twice a week) -Intel should not market this as a "LAN PARTY" device. I know it is not suppose to play modern gaemes, but I have mid-level games and I could not bear the...

Very quiet, fast and small, but failed within 3 months

All of the sudden stopped working: No bios post, no power LED. I Will update my review to comment on Intel's handling of the warranty. Update: Intel's web system for warranty is a confusing mess, and it was not clear if they would have acted on my...

Install of win7 and ubuntu was a breeze. All hardware was supported in both operating systems. Used the m.2 and memory included in a combo deal (samsung evo 850, crucial 1600 sodimm 1.35v ram)

Failed after three months

No problem

Great for mini pc to take with you to fix other computers and use in my living room as a media center.. Web surfer

Compact and powerful

Has a sata hook up on mobo but need special adapter for power and it had no space in case for 2.5 drive. I ended up returning 2.5 drive and got a m.2 drive. The nuc5i5ryh has the space for 2.5 drive on lid

Very nice. Would buy again.

Still waiting for a "charging top" to be made for inductive charging of cell phones.......

Setup went flawlessly. Installed 8GB ram, Samsung M.2 250GB SSD, 1TB HDD, Windows 10. Literally took minutes to put together. (NOTE: Be sure to purchase the correct cable for video.) Installed Windows 10 from a USB stick w/o a hitch. This thing is...

None as of yet.

Great 4K Media Center!

I'm using it with Kodi on Windows 10 and what a little great computer. It is silent and discreet but have a nice look. The performance is excellent and it can deliver 4K content easily from Kodi and IE, yes i know, why IE? Because chrome seems to throw...

-Solid performance -4k Playback -Size -Silent -Power consumption

Great small PC

Bought this and put in a 500GB M.2 drive along with 16GB of DDR3-1866 memory to use as a HTPC, replacing an old clunker that made so much noise you would hear it over the movies. This box is great. It is much heavier than you would expect due to the...

Extremely small form factor, fast enough for general use, can drive any size monitor, quiet compared to most computers, solid construction.

Four USB ports on the back would be nice and there is enough space for them. An "ultra-quiet" fan profile would be helpful. On the quiet setting, such a small fan still produces a noticeable whine.

Make sure you read

I bought this pretty quickly without reading carefully. Make sure you realize that you need to buy memory and a m.2 solid state drive..

Haven't tested yet. Need to buy memory and hdd
