Shuttle SH61R4 review

The Shuttle SH67H3 was the first Intel LGA1155 barebones we'd seen. Its HDMI video and optical S/PDIF outputs made it suitable for building a media centre PC with an Intel Sandy Bridge processor, and its twin drive bays and RAID support meant you could...

A good Sandy Bridge barebones, but Shuttle's SH67H3 is better value

Just one of those things

Great SFF. Design is simple to install and relatively easy to troubleshoot. Just some points to remember ; 1. If you install winxp make sure Sata is set to IDE ; 2. Install each driver that comes with the disc individually. The auto-install had...

Would have liked an available 3.5" drive with this model and price

Perfect little box

I'm happy with my purchase. Bought it to be able to work from home, without using my louder gaming computer. Very pleased with the combo pack Newegg put together.

Small, quite, good construction. Nice factory heatsink/fan

2 things ; While installing the processor heatsink and fan, the clips holding in on take a good amount of force. Felt like i was breaking the tabs as I installed it ; The power button is RIGHT next to your CD-ROM drive. Before I changed the power...

GREAT value, not-so-great reliability

Bought the SH67H3 last year to replace my media PC, and after 12 months of flawless performance I decided to replace my desktop with the SH61R4. Selling factors were Ivy Bridge support, dual DVI outputs on the mobo, and the small form factor. With a...

Small form factor ; Very quiet ; Dual-DVI output ; Ivy Bridge processors supported after firmware upgrade ; Supports BR/DVD/CD drive + two internal 3.5" HDDs

Occasionally failed to POST, requiring multiple restarts ; Suspected motherboard failure inside2 months ; Stock PSU not sufficient to run newer, powerful gfx cards ; RMA process does not cover return postage costs

Great for Business Use

For our purposes we configured the machine with as few parts as possible since the machine would be shipped to tradeshows. Our power consumption was low enough to allow for a desktop graphics adapter to function. Intel Core i3-2125 (3.30Ghz, 65W, W/...

This shuttle is perfect for a people who need a relatively small and light computer that still has some decent processing power. Dual DVI's are awesome! We are running two 27" 1920 x 1080 monitors off the embedded graphics (Intel HD 3000). We bought...

Case is flimsy. Super thin aluminum. The slightest impact can damage it. The first case we bought came with a damaged CPU socket. Had to RMA. Looked like it may have been returned previously because the clear plastic had been taken off the front ; Once...

Please don't buy

Don't buy

It's small and affordable

The motherboard and PSU died after 1 shutdown. Could not power it back up! Only saving grace was Newegg who could offer me a refund on this unit after 30 days

Excellent, Compact MacOS X "Lion Tamer"

I used the Kakewalk USB stick installation method and MacOS X Lion which was purchased as a download from the Apple Store. I used the MultiBeast for Lion boot loader installer. Be sure to specify the Realtek E-net driver and not the Lnx2Mac E-net...

Compact. Comprehensive (just add proc, RAM, HD, optical drive and video card) ; Supports Celeron through i7 LGA 1155 procs. I selected a Pentium Dual Core G850 and am quite pleased with it ; PCI-e 16x + PCI-e 1x + mini PCI-e 1x slots are supported ; I...

ASM 1042 USB 3.0 chip does not support MacOS X ; Although this Shuttle's case was designed for screw attachment of the ICE (liquid) cooler, Intel "push pins" are provided instead. This takes some getting used to as all previous Shuttles with ICE...

Shullte SH61R4 XPC Intel Celeron G540 2.5Ghz w/ Socket LGA1155 16GB 8Gx2 GSKILL F3-10666CL9D HD 500G SAMSUNG HD502HJ% x2 HD 2TB SAMSUNG DH204UI% x2 Windows Server2008r2 SP1 All for $750.00 with discounts (less the OS)

Great little barebones, clean, sleek and easy to set up and get running. What you'd expect from Shuttle. This is my second Shuttle XPC deployment. I use both in the inventory for data sharing and backup services for our network. I have it currently...

I assumed becuase of my first XPC, I could deploy 4 HDDs in the system, and later add RAIDs to drives via my OS install. Problem was, it's really only set up (meaning the barebone box itself) for two HDDs and one optical drive. I was hoping to install...

Great Mini Tower / HTPC

I'll be using this machine as a Video Encoder/Decoder with the Harbey HB-VD904 Broadcom Crystal HD for my life's videos and podcasts. As an extra bonus it is capable of 1080p video so a BlueRay will be my next upgrade!

Small, Lightweight, Portable ; Versatile uses ; Easy to open, configure and maintain ; ICE cooling technology ; Whisper quiet under regular load ; Optional 300W and 500W power supply sold separately! (if you need the extra juice) ; PCI Express 1x, PCI...

Excess power cables have no where to go or be hidden ; Cables run over the RAM (I'd recommend RAM with some heatsinks on it) ; Cannot official ad more fans. Some side fan mounts for extra flow would have been nice ; (Unofficially I managed to place the...

Good desktop PC

I got the Shuttle because I like the form factor and design. It is really simple to put together. Just install the CPU and you're done. It has included one of the easiest thermal sink attachments I have ever used.

Easy to put together, very quiet, nice form factor

The on-board video using the Intel will leave you disappointed if you wanted to say stream a video from Netflix. Best upgrade to a separate video card. Some included and installed SATA cables are ever so slightly too short
